A week ago yesterday, Chloe, Gary, Chloe's running buddy (not boyfriend) Jackson and I went out to eat together. We ate at Appolonia's, which is an Italian Joyce, Sheila and I discovered. On Saturday evenings, they have 1/2 price Italian beer and pizza until 7pm. Of course, we went around 5pm. We enjoyed a nice relaxed dinner, and as we were leaving, I saw a golf guy from Firewheel. Very nice guy, and chatted with him a bit. It is very rare for anyone except Gerry to see someone while out on the town.
We came home, and Chloe, Jackson and I played RockBand. We had a ball. Gary checked on us periodically, but he didn't participate. Around 10:30pm, we decided to play Pass The Ace. Gary did join us for that. I won a couple of rounds, and I think everyone except Gary won at least one round. I can honestly say that we all enjoyed the evening. I've met Jackson before when he and Chloe were working on a school project. He's one of those kids that's polite, but can actually carry on an adult conversation on most subjects. It also helped that both he and Chloe already knew most of the "oldies" that were on RockBand. He said he's an oldies Rock fan.
Note I said that it was NOT Chloe's boyfriend. They have been good friends for years, going to grade school, junior high, and now high school together. They also carpool, as do Morgan and Jackson's younger brother. Well, that was then.... and now...... they are "going out", which is what we called "going steady" when I was young. How funny. Well, I am glad her first boyfriend is such a good kid. He doesn't have a learners permit, neither does Chloe. Ask either of them why they don't, and either one of them has the same answer as most of their friends..... Why would I get one when I'd never use it. They say their parents take them everywhere they need to go, and they don't have to spend their money on gas. Now, Morgan, who is years away from being legally able to get her learners permit, has already saved the money for hers, and is planning to the minute when she'll qualify. That girl is a go getter. Alas, Chloe seems to have found the perfect "first boyfriend", as far as her family is concerned. Angela and Eric also know her parents, and have done things together. His parents are as involved in his life as Angie and Eric are in the girls. That is comforting for all involved. Chloe is also his first girlfriend. Course, that was a few days ago. They co-hosted a "scary movie" marathon at his house from 10am til 11:45pm at his house. Yes, his parents were there the entire time. They had everyone bring $12 to cover the cost of pizza, and Chloe provided popcorn. Not sure what else Jackson provided, but it was funny.
Gary also turned 68 yesterday. We all celebrated Friday evening cause Angie worked Sat. afternoon and Chloe had her party to host. We all went to Morgan's theater musical. She had a small speaking part, but no singing.... THE WIZ. Let me tell you.... it was a long.... LONG.....LLLOOONNNGGG 2 hour musical. Half the kids mumbles so bad you couldn't understand what they were saying. I won't even go there on the singing..... honestly, it was pathetic. Morgan spoke loud and clear. We also had to pay $10 each to see it. At least Angie warned us. We sat in the last row at the back so we could play on our phones without being detected.
Melissa (Gary's daughter from a previous marriage) joined us.
The next excitement in my life will be a golf tournament with Margie and Sheila on Tuesday. I haven't read the weather report yet, and don't want to. If it's cold, or rainy, we have to play anyway, because it is a fund raiser for Margie's grand daughter's school. UGH. We won't win anything, so hopefully we'll have good weather.
