I AM NOT AN APRIL DAYS FOOL.... OR AM I ?????

Alas, I can hope, pray and wish for my life to be organized, but it doesn't happen.  I guess getting older is my new excuse.  It seems that no matter what I start, it just doesn't happen like I want.  Take yesterday, for example.  All I wanted to do was see the top of my desk.  I have previously cleaned my closet, purging some old clothes, single socks, clothes that I need to mend (it ain't gonna happen), and cleaning all my bathroom cabinets.  I am down to the desk..... the place where all the odds and ends were placed, on top of the mail.

I started sorting paper, going through mail, reading the letters Gary decided I would need to review.  I got it fairly organized, and got down to the receipts.  I decided late last year that I was going to go paperless on my receipts and other required paper that goes with the income tax stuff.  I just needed to get all my medical bills posted for the year, since I hadn't done but a couple before vacation. I was on a roll, and here it was only 1pm and I had even managed to walk 2 miles after breakfast.

I find about 15 RX receipts, and put one in the scanner.  Being the type of person (borderline OCD) that I am, I have an excel spreadsheet that I log each receipt on, with date, mileage and associated income tax money allowance total, type of receipt (medical, dental, vision or RX).... about 15 items that help in doing taxes and insurance claims.  I push the scan button, but the damned printer (multi-functions) says I have previously powered it down incorrectly.  Well duh.... who cares but the printer.  I hate being chastised by a machine.  I cannot get it to respond to any button commands to get it to scan to my PC.

I am sure everyone has been in this situation.... you try every conceivable thing you think of to get the menu to let you select "scan to pdf over wifi"... all to no avail.  Dang, I go to the website for my Canon printer.  I input the model number and get the owners manual, and do a search for the scan to computer configuration info, and it doesn't even talk about scanning.  I dig in the closet (it really was just flipping through files becaused I had already organized them last week) and remembered that I had to download them.  They are on the PC.  Off I go looking for the files.

In the middle of this, Angie calls.  I listen to her complain about AT&T and their unreliable wifi, and she can really get talking.  I "sorta" listen, all the while thinking that if I listen to her, she'll listen to my complaint about the printer and she'll tell me the magic way to fix it.  After all, we paid for her college and she got her degree in computer science stuff.

I finally tell her, and she says, well hit the scan button.  Well, what did she think I had been doing?  Anyway, about 30 minutes later she tells me to just blow it off, she cannot figure out what I am doing wrong and she cannot come over and help because she is too busy.  She tells me to just download an app to my iphone and use it from now on.  Well, my wifi is just as slow as hers, I finally get it done, then have to figure out how to crop, convert to OCR, and all the other crap.  Then I have to build folders in dropbox so it will go from my phone to my pc automatically.

Success...... I have finally filled out the excel spreadsheet, all my receipts are logged and securely scanned, and I can now go on to the next project.  Gary comes in and tells me my neighbor (she is 90) needs me to come over and look at her newly installed floor.  I grab two glasses of wine and go over.  We ALSO spend about 30 minutes looking at her hail damage, and I head home.  Gary wants to know where we're going for dinner.  I'm like.... I have steaks to cook for dinner tonight.  He's like.... it's 6:45.... I can't wait much longer.

And so it begins..... I cannot figure out why I cannot get anything done.  A whole day lost.  I gave up and cooked... steak, bread, Olive Garden Italian style salad, scalloped potatoes.... the works.  Then Gary asked me to sit on the patio, have a glass of wine, and watch a hawk.  We did that, and I did nothing else for the rest of the evening.  Gary did the dishes and I read a little then went to bed at the early time of 10:45.

Got up this morning around 4:30, tried to work on the printer... lost cause.... picked up the house.... and puttered around until 5:30 when the paper arrived.  Coffee and a newspaper, and I'm good to go.  Gary got up later, and here it is 9:00.  I started to wash clothes, and decided to BLOG.  At least I can prove where my time has gone.

I am now making a list of things I need to do, and here they are in no particular priority order.

finish editing the pictures from vacation
post finished pictures so friends and family can view them
write a blog about the hail storm that caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to my truck and post the associated pictures.
write a blog about the hail storm that caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to my house and post the associated pictures
say a prayer of thanks that my friends were spared the misfortune of getting hail during the killer hail storm that apparently only hit me and 50,000 other people north of me.  (low priority)
clean my truck
coordinate some work on the fifth wheel with the dealer so I can go on a trip April 7 to Martin Dies Jr. State Park.  It has been there since I got back from Big Bend
once I get the fifth wheel back, put all our belongings back in it (we had to completely empty it before we took it into the shop)
get menu and needed supplies for next trip
mop the floors
finish getting income tax documents ready for April 15 since we'll be gone from April 7 thru April 11
reschedule my Oklahoma trip that I canceled because of the hail storm

Never mind.  I can sit here and make lists or actually do something.  I guess I'll do something.

WAIT....STELLA HAS DECIDED WHAT I SHOULD BE DOING.... SO I'LL CLOSE AND CLEAN THE CARPET WHERE SHE PUKED UP THE BEGGIN STRIP THAT GARY GAVE HER.  I DO NOT KNOW WHY HE CANNOT REMEMBER THAT SHE CANNOT EAT THEM ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.... THEY MAKE HER PUKE.
