Last night, Sue, Sheila, Margie and I went to the movies to see Morning Glory, starring Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton, and Rachel McAdams. It was a take off on the old movie.... Broadcast News. I saw that a few years ago and it was okay. This movie didn't get great reviews, but the four of us thought it was great. We all thought it was funny.... in parts. It was just a basic story, young executive producer needs to prove herself... ratings for the news show are terrible.... if she doesn't improve them the show will be canceled... that part was okay. However, once she hits on what to do to make it go from a boring newscast to a GREAT newscast were hilarious. I won't tell the rest, you'll have to see the movie. Everyone else in the theatre was laughing right along with us. We rated it a 4 thumbs up.
After the movie, we all went to Christina's for Mexican food. We drew names for our Xmas swap. Would you believe.... each drew our own names not once, but twice in a row. Then, it was two of us getting our own names.... finally, we just had to manually fix it so no one got their own name. We'll swap gifts on Dec. 14 when we play Mah Jong at Sue's house.
I came home and went to bed. I was a little tired. Got up this morning and started on my Thanksgiving cooking. Morgan called and wanted to come over for the day. She and I started cooking at 8 am. First of all, we made our turkey brine. I'm not sure why the picture is blurry, but what ever.
We then made cranberry sauce. Now both of these are new "never before tried" recipies. I mean, just because we have "almost" family guests doesn't mean we can't try something new.
I had to go to physical therapy at 10, so naturally after only 45 minutes of cooking, my knee starts swelling. I "hobbled" to therapy, begging them to not make me do anything, just to ice it. No way. They love making people hurt, so they put me on the bike, and then thru all the normal stuff. I must admit, it did feel better after all that. They suggested I not stand up for so long at one time. Well doesn't that just make for an easy Thanksgiving dinner. I've been doing nothing now the rest of the day.
Oh, I know the picture is upside down, but I cannot get IE8 to work on my pc. I've tried without success over the last year, and I cannot get it to work with my blog when I work with importing pictures. Instead of letting me do "standard" key actions like cut and paste, and click/hold and drag, it asks me if I want to use windows blog interface. I'll remove it after tomorrow, and go back to IE7 again.
Let's see. Gary has been in a great mood ever since I had my knee surgery. I finally managed to ruin that today. Chloe came over in the afternoon. She and Gary and Morgan were practicing their parts in a movie Wild Child Morgan is creating (that's an entirely different blog). They needed guns and goggles. I catch Gary as he's going out the back door, two pellet guns in hand, and I am telling him that the girls cannot play with pellet guns. He says "They're not loaded". I try to convince him that it's not a good idea and he tell me in no uncertain terms that an unloaded pellet gun will not hurt the girls. Off he goes to do his own thing.
Ten minutes after that, Chloe comes in and says, I'm not gonna play with guns anymore. I asked why, and she says cause she accidentally shot Papa (Gary). I started asking questions, and she said they all thought the guns weren't loaded, but for some reason when she pointed it at Gary and pulled the trigger, it shot him with a pellet. About this time, Gary comes in, and I'm telling them all to put the guns up. Gary gets mad at me, cause it wasn't loaded. How then did it happen? Well, he forgot to check the chamber. There was a pellet in it. That's when the fight started. Long story short, the guns were put up, the girls have been told they cannot play with them, and Gary thinks I'm an idiot. I'm gonna leave it at that point and move to another subject,
cause neither one of us will give an inch. I have decided though, that the three of them are too much for any one "sane" person to keep up with.
The girls are playing monopoly with Gary, and I'm about ready to take another pain pill. I'm trying to remain calm, and without pain till tomorrow morning. Right now the turkey is in the brine, in the ice chest covered with ice cubes (it is in a brining bag that's sealed) to keep it cold, sitting on the back porch. Now all I have to do is get Gary to move it to the garage so the raccoons won't get in it.
HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING....
