Teen Years...... I Forgot

Chloe is a true teenager.  How quickly we forget how they can be.  I arrived at camp yesterday, and was given a piece of paper that had steps on how to pick up your child (they don't allow for grand parents to do it in their paper work.).  Step one, go to their cabin where the child must be present to get them.  That was a no brainer for me.  Forget the rest of the steps, I went to her cabin.  No one was there.  Well, so much for their check out plan.

I finally went to the chapel.  By the way, Frontier Camp is fairly large.  Not sure how many people it will hold at one time, but they had over 100 there, and next year they will open up a new section for teenagers.  At the present time, they have teenage weeks, and then younger childrens weeks separately.  Guess that will change next year,. They will be housed separately from the non-teenaged children.  Good Plan!  Back on track Connie....

Anyway, that's where the rest of the parents were.  They have a ceremony.  All the kids came in at once.  The lady next to me commented that her daughter ran to her right away, but her son ignored her.  She said that's the way teens are.  Well, Chloe did come up to me and gave me a quick hug and said hi, then introduced me to her friend and her friends Dad.  They, they went to join the rest of the teens.  They gave out awards for bible verse memory skills.  Chloe won for most verses memorized by one person in the entire camp.  Duh..... that would have been a given.  Her cabin also won for most verses memorized as a total.  What's funny, her cabin won more points doing this that all the boys cabins combined.  Guess who had the most fun?  Also, Chloe's cabin was awarded a pizza party for their high points.  She said she'd rather have won an ice cream party because it was hot at camp.

Actually, Chloe said she had a ball.  They did boat rides, zip lining, wake boarding, archery, gun range shooting, on and on.  She also got an autograph from her wake boarding class which was taught by Kevin Durham, Shaun Murray and Emily Copeland Durham.  She was really excited about that.  She also told the truth, she (Chloe) is awful at wakeboarding.  Chloe tends to have trouble walking and chewing gum.  Love that girl.

Chloe was non-stop chatter from the camp to the RV park.  Then the data hit the fan.  She got her iphone out and began texting and playing SUDOKU, which is probably my fault.  Around dinner time, I told her to either put them away and do something else or I was taking them away.  (Mean Mimi!)  She put them away and we had dinner.  The steak was not good (I cooked a thick sirloin in a skillet.... too tough to chew and not enough time to let it tenderize) ) so I threw it out and then cooked smoked sausage, pasta and fresh squash.

Chloe then decided it was time to organize the RV.  She and I agreed during out spring break trip, that it's a small area, and it has to be organized and kept tidy so we can do things without a lot of hassle.  I helped her wash her camp dirty clothes, then she got them all out of the dryer, and folded and put them away while I was cooking.  Then while I was washing dishes, she was going thru things and getting everything ready to leave Sunday morning.  She got everything ready, redid the understorage areas, and delcared it road ready!  She also informed me of areas where I needed to improve on my storage plans.  hmmmmm

My back and neck were  hurting, so I took pain pills and Lidoderm patches and called it a day.  She watched two movies her Mom had rented from Red Box.  I'm not sure when she called it a night, but she also managed to text while watching her movies.  THANK YOU Angie for the goodie bag.  I think the plate will fit perfectly in my metal tray from Horseshoe Bay.  The rest of the goodies were also great.  Chloe also liked hers.  I also told Chloe that anytime she wanted to go home early, it was ok with me.... just let me know.  We'll see how that goes.

When (make that IF) she wakes up, our plan is to into Tyler and find a McD's so she can return the RedBox Videos her Mom rented for her, and also grab breakfast there.  Then, we'll attempt to find a grocery store between there and the state park.  I am hoping we can find one there so we won't have to drive into Longview proper.

That's it for now.... next time I blog, I'll have pictures.
