Alive and Living Well

I wish I had an excuse for not blogging.  I just can't seem to get organized.  My memory is so bad, I have trouble remembering what I'm doing from one minute to the next, much less what I did a week ago.  I will attempt to recap my activities.

I played in the FGA two day championship tournament.  I don't compete for the league champion, cause they play gross champion.  I shoot in the net flight.... I'm not good enough to play gross.  Well, my playing golf gets pretty gross at times.  The first day, I shot a 99, for a net 72 or 73.  They have it posted both ways, and I have no way to calculate how many strokes I get, so I'm giving an approximate score net.  Same thing on the 2nd day.  I "think" I may have shot a 103, but they showed me with a net 81.  Anyway, I was even beat by Gary Trimmier.  GASP!  The humiliation.  I came in 7th place in my flight.  Oh well, it is what it is.

Gary  (hubby) got a red light citation, for $75.  They mail them to you.  He was livid.  He insisted he didn't run the light.  I, being an intelligent person, read on the ticket where you can view the violation on the internet.  I showed him the picture of his truck before making the turn, the light was red, and then him in the middle of the intersection, and the light is still red.  Well, he said it was not right.  He spend days driving by the location, checking the timing of the light from yellow to red, on and on.  I'm not sure what the big deal is.... unless he's worried about our car insurance going up.  He's never before had a ticket, I guess.

Wednesday, Sheila and I played golf with the AT&T Telco league at Keaton Park Golf Course.  We got there about 1:30, and played 9 holes so quick, that we played the same 9 holes again.  Then, it was time for the league play to start.  Carlos showed up, and we played together.  We had a ball.  We played a skins game.  I won 5 of the 9 skins, and Sheila won the other 4.  Carlos is still griping.  I shot a 42, 43 and 45 for the 3 separate 9 hole scores.  Not bad considering I developed a new swing after the 3rd hole, and changed my entire golf swing.  Hey, I need help.  Sheila played really well also, but I don't remember her scores.  It was a cool breezy day, but we both really enjoyed the fast paced golf.  Trimmier was supposed to go with us if he could, but he preferred to play with his guy friends.  Oh well, he is the one that missed out.

My daughter left for a paid vacation (her employer paid for everything) with her hubby... New York City, no less.  That left Gary and me doing grand child duties.  It really went pretty well.  Gary got them up both mornings and cooked for them, and took them to school.  I just had to keep them from fighting with each other.  Friday was their last day of school.

Saturday, Sheila, Gary, Chloe and I went to Morgan's double header softball game.  That was really interesting.  Chloe's team was the most talented team of the 5 we saw.... basically, I think it's their age.  This was the teams second season, and it could have been the other teams first season.  A year makes a lot of difference.  Anyway, we got to see Morgan pitch, play several positions, and make some good outs.  They have weird rules that Sheila and I had to learn.... no more than 5 runs per team per inning..... and there is a time limit on the game...... It can be stopped if one team has no chance of winning, even if they scored 5 runs.... with the exception that every player gets at least one at bat.  On one game, Morgan's team won, but they had to play longer so two batters got their chance to hit the ball.  Hey... works for me.  Morgan's team is now in the play-offs, and will also get to send players to the All Star Tournament.

Sheila had invited us over to her house for swimming, dinner, and games.  The girls were really excited.  Mark and I never got in the pool (his back is still healing), but we did stay on the patio.   The girls, Gary and Sheila, played with water balloons and pistols.  Then, Mark grilled our dinner.  I took some slaw using a Bobby Flay recipe.  It had Napa cabbage, peppers, cumin seeds, and honestly... it tasted OK, but the longer it sat, the soupier it got.  I will NOT make it again.  The girls loved the menu selected especially for them.... burgers and dawgs.  For dessert, Sheila made Magic Bars, and also offered Mini Ice Cream Drum Sticks.  Morgan ate the sticks, the rest of us scarfed down the Magic Bars.

Then, we played pool-poker.  I don't think anyone won more that once.  Morgan and Chloe never did win, but they get better at pool every time we play.  Mark also gave us all dart lessons.  Who knew just the stance could change everything.  Guess it's like golf......

Here are a couple of pictures I took.
Above is an example of my great photography skills.  The only picture I took, and I cut her head off.  It's Morgan on the right.

Morgan was so impressed with their Star Trek Picture.

I had to use my iphone for these pictures, as Angela borrowed my pocket camera for New York City.  She didn't want to lug her SLR around town.  They walked and rode the subway all over the place.  It's the first vacation they've taken just the two of them.  They had a ball.

I got up early Sunday and drove Chloe to Frontier Camp.  It was a 4 hour trip to get there, and then a couple of hours to get her checked in and moved into her cabin.  Then another long drive home.  I did nothing all day Monday.  Just rested.  Last night, Morgan had a softball practice.  Gary, Angie and I played Hand and Foot (I was losing) when Eric took her, and brought her home.  He explained that she had hurt her finger.  She was playing and saw a rapidly approaching ball coming in her direction.  She said she didn't have time to catch it with the mitt, so she caught it with her right hand.  She said it hurt really bad when she caught it.  Well, they were putting ice on it and I noticed it was NOT her finger, but the middle of the right side of her right hand that had a big goose egg on it.  Off they went to the ER.  A couple of hours later they confirmed that it was broken.  They put a splint on it.  They don't do casts, if they don't have to, because doctors don't always like to put a cast on, because the rest of the muscles atrophy so quickly, then they have to do longer re-hab.  Well, She has spent the day on pain meds.  The first appointment Angie could get was next week, so she spent the day looking for a doctor that would take her earlier.  She was SUPPOSED to go to camp next week.  Anyway, she had an appointment in the morning.

In looking at these pictures, it looked a lot worse up close, in person.  Trust me, there was a big knot there.  This morning, I got up early and took her a get well package.  8 regular (not diet) cokes, a bag of Hershey kisses, a water balloon game, and a card.  She was getting her Mom to make her pancakes with breakfast, using the Hershey kisses for chocolate chips.  Yup, she's gonna milk it to death.

Angie also managed to get Morgan camp start date moved back one week.  It looks like she probably won't get to play in her softball team playoffs or All Star Game, but at least she wasn't seriously hurt.

I've continued to go to the gym regularly.  I got really depressed Monday when I went, cause they're closing the location I've been going to.  Now I've got to find another one I like as well.

I've also been packing for my RV trip with Chloe to Caddo Lake State Pare.  Chloe is released from camp at 9am this coming Saturday morning.  Our original plan had me picking her up on Saturday morning in the RV, then spending the night in Tyler Texas at an RV place, washing all her clothes, and then driving to Caddo on Sunday.  Since it took so long to get there on the way down, I've decided to go down by myself and spend Friday night at a place close to the camp.  It sure beats getting up at 4am Sunday morning.  It just makes more sense to do it that way.  Angie and Morgan were going to stay with us Saturday night, then check Morgan into camp Sunday morning, but her had changed all that.  Anyway....

I've pretty much to all my stuff ready, clothes wise.  Chloe will use the same clothes she took to camp, hence we'll wash everything before we go to the state park, as they don't have washing facilities.  I have my meal plan laid out.  Tomorrow, Sheila and I are supposed to play golf.  Then Thursday, I do my final shopping, and leave some time Friday afternoon.  I will have my camera.  I doubt they'll have wifi at the state park, but I'll work on the blog off line and hopefully will get it published much faster than I did this blog.

Here are a few things I saw on face book that I really like.  Enjoy these.....
