Hello from COLORFUL COLORADO

Face Facts !!!!   We are all getting older.  Chloe and Morgan don’t come over like they used to.  Angie’s got a different job were she works from home, but she has to “work”.  My health has kept me from enjoying the sun activities I so love.... golf, and ore golf.  Thank goodness my real friends online to be a part of my life, though not as much as years ago.  Mark retired and he and Sheila spent a month in Greece, and have a planned extended trip to Canada later this year.  Gary and I ????  We decided we needed to get out and about.  Imagine this.... just the two of us.

We have done several trailer trips with Mike and Janice, and those are always fun.  But is was starting to get really hot in Dallas.  Frank has a house in Canon City, CO that sits vacant most of the time.  We checked with him, and it was okay for us to use it for a couple of weeks.  (((((. I want to note that Canon is not typed correctly.  The “n” right after Ca should have a squiggle thingy over it.  It is pronounced Canyon.... which Gary refuses to do.  My iPad keyboard doesn’t offer me the chance to change it.  I will try and fix this when I am at home on real WiFi.... not expensive AT&T cell data.)))))

We had a couple of things wrong with the RV, so we put it in the shop and headed up here.  We left the house at 7:00 am and arrived her about 6:00 pm.  With time change allowed for, we made it in about 12 hours.  Not bad.  We got settled in.

Our first trip was to the river walk path.  My bike caddy did all the hard work, all I had to do was peddle.  Our first trip was 5.5 miles.  We started at the train station and went west till we reached the top of a hill-bridge when I said ENOUGH!  We went home, rested a few minutes then went to dinner.  Later in the evening, I got bored and wanted to do more biking.  We then went west from the train station... past the prison, to the college.  It ended up being a round trip of about 2 miles.  The last section was uphill..... and it wore my fat butt out.  Over all, I was really proud of myself.

Forget me telling you which day was which, but we have spent a couple of days just driving around Canon City.  We did got to Cachura the other day.  The drive there was uneventful, but only because Gary found a pull over on the mountain road that allowed us both some privacy to go “wee wee”.  I had to hike a bit to find a boulder to hide behind.... but it was better than ruining the upholstery.  We stopped at the dog bar for a shared lunch (one order of chicken wings with fries).  Then up to Cordova Pass, elevation 11,248 feet.

Thank goodness it was cool.  I had to wear a jacket, and it was also windy.  We both forgot to start our walking apps, but we figured it had to be about 2 miles round trip.  Not sure what the altitude is at the top.... but we stopped 3 times for me to catch my breath.  It was beautiful.  Taking lots of pictures is impossible when you forget your camera.  Course, I was more worried about breathing than anything.  Last year, I couldn’t safely walk from the parking lot to the bathroom, too dizzy and sick.  I am so happy that I had no issues that Gary didn’t have.... just needing to let my lungs rest a couple of times.  We took the quick way home.  Our only stop going home was Walmart, where I got beer and a few food items, then the liquor store for wine.  We are all set now.  I fixed left overs from our previous meal.  Stuffed baked potato for Gary, and salad with meat for me.

Yesterday, instead of lunch, we went to DQ and got ice cream.  Butterfinger blizzard for me, and a strawberry shake for Gary.  We took our lunch to the park so we could watch people attempt to clime one small rapid drop off.  No one made it.  We then checked our all the activity in the park.  They were setting up for a WhiteWater Festival.  We plan on doing that later today.  As of now, I just decided to write a post while Gary officially wakes up.  He is NOT an early morning person.  Enjoy the pictures.
