Thank GAWD Thursday's Over

Thursday started out okay. I started playing golf with Margie, Sue and Gerry. I got sick (tummy ache) on the back nine, so I decided to leave. Margie was riding with me, so she said she'd just go home also. Came home and felt better. We girls had a dinner date for the evening, so Gerry picked me up around 5 pm and we headed for Sue's new home.

Her house is beautiful, of course. It is a wee bit small for 2 people and one dog. It has formal living and dining areas, HUGE kitchen, family room overlooking the pool and the park area, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths downstairs, 3 bedrooms and 2 baths upstairs, an extra living area upstairs, and the largest walk-in attic I've ever seen. The pool is also large. I worry that they'll be crowded in such a small space, ya know? Since we spent a couple of weeks at their estate in France last April, I think I'll just see if Sheila and us can stay at their house here for a couple of weeks. Honestly, I don't think they'd ever know we were there.
We had a few glasses of wine while we waited for Margie. When she arrived later, we all headed off for Picasso's Restaurante (south east corner of Coit and Legacy) in Gerry's car. The waitress remembered me, and the fun began when she asked why I was carrying a large ice chest. I informed her it was full of wine that needed to be chilled. She immediately decided she'd seat us at the back of the restaurant. Her name is Gertriana (or something like that.... she's got quite an accent) and he husband was our waiter. She opened our wine (you have to take your own, they charge $1 a bottle to uncork it, but that includes one of their glasses), and we had a glass while deciding what to eat.
We started out with fresh mushroom soup to die for, then had another glass of wine. She brought us some bruschetta that the girls loved. We opened up another bottle of wine and waited for our entrees. We all got something different and decided to share. Everything was soooo good, and served really hot. The sourdough bread is also some of the best I've tasted. We enjoyed our meal, and on our fourth bottle of wine, I got a tummy ache.... or was it a stomach ache.... or was it a head ache?
Either way, she provided us all with a cup of coffee. Gee, I wonder why. Sue paid our food bill....a big whopping $50. I'm telling you the food there is fantastic AND cheap. Gerry took me to the car..... and eventually I got home. Most of the evening was a complete blank after drinking the coffee..... but I did get home.
Woke up this morning, checked that all the girls were safe and sound, and then discovered that we have no hot water. The hot water heater broke and sorta of flooded the utility room and part of our bedroom floor. Gary was lucky enough to catch it before it got really bad. I'm trying to dry out the carpet, and he's having lunch today with Chloe because it's her special birthday party at the school lunch. He was taking cupcakes to her. He does have his priorities.
As for me.... I'm not Catholic, but I've decided to give up red wine for lent, which begins NOW. I know for everyone else, it begins Feb. 25 thru April 9 or 11, but I'm going to get one step ahead of them.
