Thursday night, we all had tickets to the Eissman theatre to see the musical "Motherhood". Sue, Sue S., Sheila, Joyce and I met at Casa Millagro for dinner. Margie was running late, so she wasn't able to join us, but we had a fun talkative meal (like there's any other type of meal when we're together). Then we headed for the theatre.
DO NOT READ THIS PARAGRAPH, SHEILA.
Most of you that know Sheila, know she's very knowledgeable on almost everything. I drove everyone in my car, cause it'll hold everyone, and I also have a handicap parking card. She didn't think I knew where I was going (I was within 3 miles of my own home), and though she was in the very back seat of the car, started telling me where to turn. I told her I knew where I was going. She kept hollering at me, then Sue D., started telling me where to turn. I kept explaining that I knew where I was going. Then, Sue S., who was sitting next to me started in. I did my best at ignoring everyone, went my own route, and got there within 2 or 3 minutes of starting off. I caught all the lights (both of them) on green, so it was no big deal. Their route would have taken me thru multiple stop signs, and all the parking traffic for the theatre. I arrived at my destination, and started to turn into the parking lot. There went Sheila again, and for some dumb reason, I yielded to her, and went one block more.... only to miss where I was trying to park. I had to drive around the block, but reached MY desired parking lot. When we got into, then out of the elevator, we were in the theatre already. All of them agreed that my drive path was fine, and they were impressed that we were already in the theatre. Sheila asked my why I didn't tell her to shut up, and I explained (all the while keeping a straight face) that I had told her numerous times that I knew what I was doing, but she couldn't hear me for speaking so loudly from the back seat, then with both Sue's chiming it, no wonder she couldn't hear me. I am going to state right now..... Sheila doesn't know EVERYTHING. She doesn't have her Mum's trait of keeping her mouth closed if she's not driving. Thank you Joyce, for being so supportive.
The musical was really funny. It did start out a little slow for me, but then it started roaring full steam ahead. We had previously seen "Menopause", so we were sort of thinking that we'd know what this was about. We weren't wrong, but at the same time, we were NOT disappointed. This picture is before the theatre filled up (SRO)
Of course, no cameras allowed, so no flash, which doesn't make for the best of pictures.
The four women starring in the show were fabulous singers. If you get a chance, it is a great show to see. I tried to talk everyone into going for a drink afterwards, but they all pooped out on me. After the show started, Margie called to say she was not going to be able to make it to the theatre. Boy, that cost her big time for nothing...... $47 per ticket.
Yesterday, we all met at Quiggley's Clayhouse for Ladies Night Out. We all had to reserve a spot, which cost us $15 each. Then the class was an additional $40 for supplies. Sheila, Sue, and Joyce opted to make plates. Sue and Joyce made one to hang on the wall, and Sheila made one that will be turned into a candy bowl shape.... not a bowl, but upturned edges.
Here is Sheila's piece. Note, the bird flying in the top left corner. That's the same thing as Sheila's signature.
Obviously, this is Sue's piece. I say an architect always like straight lines. More structure and control.
Then there's Joyce. She is more of a free form person.
I do need to state that all of us had to design our own layout, then cut the class. We also had to "glue" our pieces together. Margie and I opted to create jewelry. He as a piece that we loved the color on. He couldn't find the correct color of glass, so Margie just bought the necklace we both liked. She ended up only paying $25 for the piece, which is less that we should have paid for the class. You know every time she wears it, I'll be envious, cause I loved the color combination. Black, Teal, Teal green, and Gold. I went ahead and created two sets of jewelry using the colors he had. I will go back at some time, and make one in the colors I really liked. You can't tell it, but I started our (we all did) with plain 3mm thick glass. The other three used cut glass on top of their glass, and that was it. They told me I had to make like a sandwich out of mine. Clear glass on the bottom, then my special glass (sold by the gram), then to top it off with regular clear glass. Who knew????? Mine is on the plate, with markings to show where I want the silver pieces that will hold the chain and earring hoops.
Once they're fired and completed, approximately two weeks, I'll take pictures of them all again and post them so you can see how they turned out. I am really looking forward to seeing the finished products. I also purchased two additional groupons for walk in class time, where I'll only pay for the glass used. Because I couldn't make the jewelry out of what I wanted, I didn't have to pay for the specialty glass, or the silver pieces. Yee haw. Now, if only they turn out good.
Tonight, everyone is supposed to meet at Houlihan's for drinks and Tapas, then cards at Sheila's house. I haven't told Gary yet. Oh well, he'll either go or not. I'll go either way, cause it's just the gang, and they all know how he is. Later........
