Gary has really gotten good at playing Rock Band as a drummer. I improved on the drums, depending on the song, and the guitar, and finally learned the piano gizmo it uses. Saturday night I had Mark, Sheila and Joyce over for dinner and cards, just what the grand kids wanted. I realized getting the house clean and keeping the girls entertained was not going to work, so I sent the girls and Gary to the movies while I cooked and cleaned the main part of the house. (Forget the bedrooms.... I just closed the doors like I always do.)
I made lasagna, and did it ahead of time so I could spend more time with my company. Well, I'll never do that again. I precooked everything and assembled it, then put it in the fridge to keep from poisoning everyone. I took it out again 30 minutes before I planned on serving it, and it was too cold. Instead of letting it warm up for 30 minutes, I guess I should have allowed an hour. It had to bake for almost an hour just to get it warm. It then was a little dry. Oh well, you know what they say..... Make the guests wait long enough for dinner and anything will taste good.
The girls got them started on Rock Band as soon as they came in. Morgan had decided earlier in the week that she wanted to be a bar tender when she grew up. She'd been concocting lemonade in miniature margarita glasses, rimming them with sugar, and then adding a slice of lemon. They were pretty, but sure are a mess to clean up after. Ok, she had my frozen margarita machine out. She made the margaritas, and everyone had one. (I cheated and used a mix and the recipe that was on the bottle, adding only one additional item, Grand Marnier. They were fairly good. While they were playing on the Wii, I continued to heat up the lasagna in the oven. Finally we ate it, and then we got down to some serious card playing.
Before you look at the pictures, I must tell you that Mark asked why I still had my Christmas decorations up. The truth is.... It will take about a week to get the stuff down and back into the attic. Gary worked on the yard stuff first, and there is not enough room in the garage for his yard stuff boxes and my house boxes. He got his stuff done. Now there is room for me to start. However, I had planned the card game, the painting, and the movie for last week, so I didn't have time to get it completed last week. This week, I have stuff planned also. Painting class on Wed, theater on Thurs, and a dinner party here on Sat. Again, my house will continue to have Christmas up. Probably will until Joyce leaves, to be honest. Oh well....
Both of the girls had a ball. They really want to win, but also want to beat Mark. The rest of us are just there. I can't remember who all won a round, but obviously it wasn't me or I'd be bragging about it on here.
We gave in to their demands and played Rock Band yesterday afternoon. At least it is a fun game. Then, after dinner, we took them home. They still didn't want to go, but it was a school night. Today, Chloe called her Mom and said she was sick at school and wanted someone to pick her up. If it had been Morgan, we'd presume (correctly) that she just wanted to go home, but Chloe doesn't like to miss school. I'm not sure what is going on, Angie said if it was "female" problems, she was going to have to learn to live with it. If it was ear problems, she was going to have to deal with it, cause Eric took her to the doctor Friday, and Chloe refused to take the medicine they prescribed. Only if it was full blown flu symptoms would she be allowed to go home.
Today, decided to pay bills and update my PC. I wanted to blog before the week got away from me. It is a lot easier to enjoy life for me when I only have the grand daughters for a day or so at a time. I can take them and their hectic schedule. It is the constant fighting with each other, and me having to play referee between them that drives me insane. It got so bad, Gary even told Morgan no. TWICE! Honest. Once, he made brownies at like 10:30 pm for them, but Morgan was so hyper active that he told her she couldn't have any till the next day. She honestly agreed with him that she was going to have trouble going to sleep. He had to rub her feet for an hour before she drifted off. The other time, same thing. She loves to eat anything with sugar. She knows when she is getting hyper, and he made her lay off during the day one other time. Yup..... it actually wore him down. Stella? She enjoyed the girls being here, but was rather jealous. She insisted on being held.
That's about it for now. Not really anything exciting going on, Oh, no, I don't count the house work waiting on me. Later....
