Movies and art

Tuesday night, Sheila, Joyce, Margie and I met at the theater to see Les Miserables. There was a light rain falling when I arrived at the theater. I parked, then made a mad dash in the rain to the ticket area. As I approached, I noticed a rather portly man standing at the entrance to the waiting queue area, but he was talking on his cell phone with his back to the ticket window, so I went on up and purchased my ticket. As soon as I paid, I saw Joyce approaching, and hollered at her to hurry up, I was getting wet. I waited for her to snag her two tickets (one for Sheila, who was parking the car). I glanced at Mr. portly, still gabbing on his cell, and realized that there was a line behind him, in the rain, waiting on us to finish up so they could approach. They'd been there all along. I was mortified, as was Joyce. I apologized, and of course, there's one in every crowd.... One guy made some remark about thinking we own the place. It was good natured ribbing though.

Sheila arrived, and we went in to find Margie already there. No, I'm serious.  It was probably the first time I've ever known her to be on time, much less early. We're getting ready to potty (we were warned to empty our bladders before we went in, cause the movie is 2 hours and 40 minutes. That, plus the trailers, is one long movie. ), and as we finally got into the theater, my buddy from the ticket line was going in and telling me we better not get HIS seats. What a hoot. He sat at the very top, but we sit in the front third of the theater by the rail, so we can put our feet up.  We talked back and forth for a bit, then settled in when the movie started.

I managed (just barely), to make it all the way thru without another potty break. Also, I only sniffled a little. It is a damned sad movie. However, it was really good. I was amazed at the singing done by the actors. Just fantastic. Something that rarely happens in the theater, the portly man we saw at the entrance was actually there with a girl we knew from the golf course. It 's a small world. Well, if you live or hang out in Garland. We presume it was her husband. We said hi to her. She sent me a note in email today. What a surprise, cause we hadn't seen her in a couple of years.

After the movie and one really looonnnngggg potty break, we walked a couple if blocks in the rain to the Fish City Grill, where Gerry was sipping a wine while she waited on us to arrive. Sheila and Joyce had a crab leg dinner, Margie and Gerry had coconut shrimp, Gerry also had a cup of gumbo, and the pig that I am, I had a cup of cream of jalapeño soup, house salad, and fried oyster nachos. Everyone loved their food. I had a tad more than I could eat. Better that, than not enough.

We all called it a night after dinner. Got home, and told Gary I'd go again with him and Chloe to see the movie. Oh, he also wants to see Zero Dark Thirty. That should be different.

Today, Angie had a day time auction, so Gary was Mr. Mom for transporting the g-kids to their events. We got the first call at 9:00..... Chloe had left her cheer leading outfit at home. Since I was going to be gone all afternoon, I volunteered to take it up to her. See, it really isn't always all about me. After that errand, I loaded up and headed to Sheila's. She served soup and bruschetta for lunch. She and Joyce had tomato soup, I had green chili chicken soup. It was spicy, just perfect. Then we three Rembrandt wanna-be's started painting. Mark critiqued our work a couple if times. After all was said and done, we decided Joyce did the best. I had to quit jacking with mine, cause it got too turquoise, and got too muddy. I will let it dry out, then attempt to fix it.

Both Chloe and Morgan were here when I got home, around 4:30. Gary was getting Chloe food from El Fenix, and Morgan was eating a sandwich. I rode the exercise bike for 20 minutes and then Gary got home and he and I made ourselves a sandwich. Angie called and we decided that both girls would spend the next few nights here. She had gotten really sick during the day, running a high fever and feeling terrible. Because of the fever, she for sure wanted Morgan to stay here. Chloe insisted she get to stay as well. That will give us something to do. Gary had to take Chloe to a basket ball game tonight. I stayed home with Morgan. She's watching TV while I BLOG.

That's it for today. Cards are up on the agenda for Saturday night. The g-kids are looking forward to that. They just love playing Pass The Ace with Mark. Their object isn't to win as much as it is to beat Mark. I sometimes think both girls have Mark on a pedestal. He is really fun, but he likes to tease them, and they enjoy the attention.

Update note from  1-10 at 4:20 am.  I couldn't stand the thought of this not making sense, so I came in and corrected this.  I have nothing better to do this early in the morning.  The damned pitter patter of rain drops on the roof are keeping me from sleeping.  This is going to be one super long day..... hope your day is nice.  And to be honest.... I hope it keeps raining.  We need rain badly.  It would help if we didn't get it all at once, but this rain has been coming off and on for a couple of days, and it's a soft gentle rain.  Later....
