Tuesday on Dauphin Island

Joke of the day compliments of JR:

How do you get holy water? You boil the HELL out of it!
Late last night.....
Shannyn and I sat up and discussed life (that's better than saying we drank margaritas that are made with aguave wine instead of tequila - no I don't recommend it). Everyone else was in bed. We called it quits around midnight.

I woke up this morning at 6:30 am. The sky was a little cloudy. I went to the bathroom, and when I got back, Morgan had snuck into my place in the bed. She and I went downstairs and she watched cartoons while I drank coffee and did e-mail. When Angie and Chloe woke up (around 7:00), the four of us headed for the beach.

We walked about a mile towards the west end of the beach. We spied a couple of sting rays in the water, but Chloe spied a horse shoe crab. Of course, I took a picture. It was dead, and Morgan wanted me to carry it back with us. I promised that I'd do it on the way back. They have a very interesting life, and have for hundreds of millions of years. They haven't changed much in all that time.

When we turned around, we stopped and I put the dead horse shoe crab in a bag to bring back and walked off. Angie came up and looked at where I'd picked it up, and noticed the largest maggots (I think that's what they were) in the impression it had left in the sand. YUCK! I finally convinced Morgan that we couldn't take it back and we dumped it. Being the "green" person that I am, I didn't want to throw my plastic bag on the beach, so I carried it with me. As we walked along, Morgan noticed that the bag was still full of maggots. YUP..... I disposed of it in an old shoe we found and threw it into someones back yard. So much for being green.

As you can see in the picture, the girls were in their pj's, so was I, but you can't see me. Angie was the only person to get dressed. We finally, make that FINALLY, made it back to the house. We had microwaved sausage-pancakes on a stick. Yup, Mimi cooked. Then I went to the store, and the gang headed to the Gulf side. I was getting ready to join them, when Angie called and had a big emergency...... she dropped her camera in the ocean. She recovered it, but it was ruined. Thank goodness I'd downloaded everything this morning to the PC.

I calmed her down (well Gary did, it's under warranty) and started out to join them, when TA-DA! The man came and installed the microwave, so I called Angie and told her I'd join them. She called back 5 minutes later, and placed and order for sandwiches. I made them, and before I could get out the door, she called back and asked for additional water. Got that loaded, and as I was walking out the door, the phone rang again. They needed chips. I finally got there.

Morgan and Aidan were playing in the surf, Chloe was digging in the sand, Madyson was boogie boarding, and Cade was sleeping. AAHHH! Mimi sat down and enjoyed the beach. The kids decided to feed the birds, and after that got old, tried boogie boarding again. Chloe came screaming out of the water. She was covered in sand flea bites. Wellllll, guess who got to bring her home. Right..... Mimi. My 10 minutes at the beach was beautiful.

Did get the poor thing home, and had to look up sand fleas on the internet for her while she was showering. Here's a picture of her belly. The other areas are NOT allowed to be photographed and posted on the web site. It is rated PG13. (see link list at top for sand flea information)
Chloe gets her shower, and Morgan and I decide it's time for Morgan to wind down. I fix them lunch and Morgan is settled down in front of the TV.

So.... things are finally quiet, except Chloe wants Mimi to throw her skirt up the stairs. Mimi has a bad right shoulder, so she tosses it up left handed. YUP! It went on top of the moving fan. Mimi did manage to get it down.
Mimi has decided it isn't going to be a good day for her.

Mimi, I have always found a day st the beach goes great "IF" I get up in the morning and have a pitcher of margarita's (or just drink the bottle of tequila, then the grandkids have to roll me over until done on all sides and it's time to go home). Also, it is a must to carry a thowdown hairless Chihuahua, or a Chubacabra (goat killing devil) in your beachbag for the sandfleas. If the fleas don't stay off of you then they provide great entertainment. Enjoy! I will send more beachtips. Love Sissy
