Rain in Big D, Little R

It's raining today in Big D (Dallas) and Little R (Richardson). We had "just enough" nice days last week to get us all to thinking of spring. YEAH RIGHT! Once again, it's cool and wet. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

Last week went really fast. I played golf last Sunday with Gary T. I started out with an 11 with 4 putts, then settled down. I was caught in the woods, and there was no way out. I basically used my putter to get out. Gary T started out with a 4 with 1 putt and went downhill from there. I did beat him on score, but I won't post how bad it was.

Monday, I went to my primary care doctor. I told her I was wanting to change gastro doctors, as I had spent over a year with Dr. Vallarupalli without getting to the point I thought I should be. By the way, she referred me to him, and he is her uncle. She asked me to try one more thing for her. Go on a rice diet, and a new medication. I agreed. The new medicine is some type of narcotic, very habit forming, and usually causes a person to be unable to perform sexually. I'll leave that statement right where it is, with no further comment. She also wanted me to go to physical therapy.

Tuesday I started physical therapy. That went well. The rice diet went well. By the way, the diet is rice and egg whites only for one week, then adding one item at a time.

Wednesday, I enrolled Dad in an Alzheimer's Day care. Got papers filled out, etc. I was soooo excited. They called late in the afternoon and said I had to come back Thursday and fill out more medical info. Thursday was the Firewheel Women's Golf Assoc.'s kick off lunch, with golf afterwards. I did get to do the luncheon, but not golf. I did, however, get all of Dad's paperwork in. Fell off the rice only diet.... had several glasses of wine. BUT, it was white wine, just in case that helps. By the way..... stomach issues are already going away.

Friday morning, I got up and found Dad at the table looking like death warmed over. He had not been able to sleep, and could not explain anything to me. He was just too disoriented. After about 30 minutes, I figured out that he was explaining that when he put Cetaphil moisturizing lotion on his head, it kept him awake with a headache. (I know..... I know) He was having trouble making complete sentences, so I gave up on him going. Yes, I had to prepay for all of his visits. Friday night, the girls spent the night...... I cheated and added strawberries and blueberries to my rice. I got extremely sick again. Back to rice only. It wasn't seven days, but it was close.

Saturday, Gary T scheduled a golf lesson with Kevin B., who is very expensive. To have 2 people in a lesson was only about $35 more, so I paid the difference and went with him. It was a putting lesson, and we both needed it. Gary T needs it more than me, but I could always use less putts. It ended up being a 2 hour lesson, which amazed us both. It went very fast. All that he changed for me, was my set-up, and he found that I tend to move my head ever so slightly when I stroke the ball. I always miss right when I do that. Now all I need is someone to hold my head still when I putt and I'll be great. Gary T had a lot more to work on. He restarted him completely on putting. Gary was having "weight" issues, as the Canadians would say. Here, we call it "speed".... always too short or too long on his putts. He made great progress during the lesson, but needs to practice so it'll be second nature to him. Cheated and ate Girl Scout Cookies around midnight, and just a little pop-corn.

Sunday, I worked on Angela's study drapes all day. She moved all the furniture out of the study (yes, the room we just re-papered and painted) getting ready for the plumbers. They found a broken pipe under her house. below the study. Cheated and had sliced Bar-B-Que beef sandwich for supper. That is all I cheated on.

Today, I got up to a dreary day, and headed for the golf course. Got there at 7:40, to start my practice. I hit a bucket of balls, did half way decent on that, then practiced my putting. I did great on the putts. Even the 5 footers went well. Kevin gave us specific putting exercise drills to use. I did very well, and missed only 3 out of 50 putts. That was great. Then, I went over to Angie's house. They started jack-hammering the floor. Angie and Eric had moved the furniture out, and here is the book case unit in the living room. We personally, like the dark furniture against the wooden walls.

Here are some pix of the study floor.

You can't tell it from the pictures, but their tool actually pinpointed with great accuracy the location of the broken pipe. They dug two holes. One on either side of the estimated location. Sure enough, the break is between the two holes. Now, here's the weird part. State Farm Insurance doesn't cover sewer pipes unless it causes damage to the house. Well, the laundry room sheet rock got ruined. So, instead of Angie and Eric paying between $12,000 and $15, 000 to get it repaired, they only have to pay the deductible plus the cost of the pipe. State Farm picks up the rest, including repair of the floor where they did the work, and all work to restore it to it's previous condition. Whew...... they were sweating bullets. Gary is over there right now, watching the plumber guy do his thing. I went over, and it stinks to high heaven. I told the guy he was lucky it was on the sink and laundry room side instead of the toilet side. He informed me that the garbage disposer side is always the worst smelling. Wow, learn something every day.
Tonight I'm going to give Dad a small does of Zanax before he goes to bed for the night. I want to try again tomorrow to take him into the Day Care. I found out I have to have a cat scan of my stomach tomorrow, so I've gotta ask Gary to take him. That's one conversation I won't enjoy. Oh well. I spoke with Sheila and Margie this morning. All is going well for them, so everyone here in Texas is in great shape. Now, if only it would quit raining.
Yes, the Bar-B-Que beef got to me. I got sick again. I am back on rice only. Now, believe it or not, I'm still so much better than I've been in over a year. The cheating I've done, was just the small changes I mentioned.... everything else was rice...rice...rice. It gets boring fast. I'm hungry, but don't even know what for any more. I might as well eat the newspaper.
Later, and I can't post a political bumper sticker cause I'm on Gary's PC. However, I'll do an Obama story instead.....
Sitting together on a train are Obama, George Bush Jr., and old lady, and a blonde with BIG boobs.
The train goes thru a dark tunnel and a few seconds later, there is the sound of a loud slap.
When the train emerges from the tunnel, Obama has a bright red hand print on his cheek.
No one speaks.
The old lady thinks.... Obama must have groped the blonde in the dark, and the blonde slapped him.
The blonde thinks.... Obama must have tried to grope her in the dark, and missed and fondled the old lady by mistake, and the old lady slapped him.
Obama thinks....Bush must have groped the blonde in the dark, and she tried to slap him but missed and hit Obama instead.
Bush thinks..... I can't wait for another tunnel, so I can smack Obama again.
