Anyway, yesterday was one of our most expensive days to date. After deciding the couch would wait another day to repair, we decided to search for a place for the kids to wade in the water (the Arkansas River). On our way into town, here’s what was walking in the middle of the road.
We grabbed our camera, and to a shot of him after he got across. We nowhave the answer to the question “Why did the deer cross the road?” Answer: “To eat the hedges on the other side”.
We got on the highway and followed signs to “the South Rim of the Royal Gorge”, thinking it would lead us to the bottom at some point. We got onto a one way road that had a strip down the middle. All we could figure was that they had it marked in error as two way, thinking only people on small tricycles would ride on it. Our SUV took up every inch of the road. When we finally met ONE car, we had to pull off the road so he could pass. Anyway, we finally arrived at a gated entrance at the top of a hill. Sure enough, we were at the south rim. That means the very top of the bridge, and no one goes that way cause it takes forever. It cost $84 for one senior, one adult, and 2 children to enter for one day. What the hell, Obama will take care of us…. In we go.
We get in, and figure out that we drove an extra 20 miles to get to the other side of the entrance we passed about an hour earlier. We park, and find out that our entry fee entitles us to everything in the park except the SkyCoaster Ride. The girls and I start walking across the bridge over the Royal Gorge. About 20 feet into our walk, I get sick. I have a terrible fear of heights. It’s so bad, I just want to jump off the bridge and get it over with instead of waiting for the bridge to collapse. The girls walk me back to the car, and Angie takes over. I head to the restaurant and sit in the shade for a couple of hours while they tour all the attractions.

They walk to the other side, even though our entry fee included free tram rides, shuttle rides, etc. I took this picture from about 500 feet away. The Sony camera I hate finally did something right.
After touring the other side, they called and said they were getting on the tram, to take their picture. Here ya go…..
It was all I could do to keep from puking and crapping my pants while I did this video. They gave her a free video, which I combined with the one I took.
We came home along “skyline” drive. It’s a one way road thru hell. I was still driving, and I couldn’t not look down. Of course, we did stop for entertainment……
We then stop at Papa Murphy’s for dinner. We come home and while the pizza is cooking, I head to the store to get a staple gun and some bolts. I get them, come home and eat, then start on repairing the sofa. Of course, the staple gun wouldn’t work. I head back to the store, and a storm comes in. Lots of wind and rain. I am drenched, but get to the store and find out that I had the wrong staples, but the gun was also defective. They had me get a bigger staple gun, and different staples, and I ended up getting a dollar credit cause the better stapler was on sale. Back I come. I get the sofa legs back on, and Angie takes over stapling. VOILA! The sofa is good as new, probably better. As we’re putting the sofa back, I see the DS Lite under Chloe’s chair. Ya know…. I should have been aggravated, but I was relieved we finally found it. If I lose something, I cannot get past it. For the rest of my life I’d have been looking for it every time we came up here.
We all played LCR and then hit the sack. Angie got up and put the trash out today, and left for Coyote Den, claiming she had to work. I know it’s for the Butter Rum Muffins. She’d better bring me one is all I can say. Today, we’re going to Pueblo to see what we can do to entertain ourselves. So far, the girls haven’t gotten too bored. We did bring Morgan’s scooter. She has a problem of having too much energy for the rest of us. Later…..
