34th Wedding Anniversary

Yesterday was about as boring as any other day.  I did yak on the phone with Sheila for about an hour.  And she's the gal that doesn't like to talk on the phone.  Guess we were both desperate for something to do.

Angie and Chloe headed out for parts unknown for a weekend of Girl Scout Camping.  Eric, her hubby, headed out for San Antonio to visit his Mom.  That left us with Morgan.  I always wonder what type of woman she'll grow to be.  I was surfing the internet last nite (on my Sony Google TV Box) and she came in and announced that her hat was on fire.  WHAT????  Turns out, she had been playing on-line poker.  I have no idea how she found it, but she was on a site that had Western style cartoon characters sitting around a table.  Her character had almost all the chips in front of her, and her hat was indeed on fire.  That, she informed us, is what happens when you're the hottest player at the table.  Okay, we were impressed.  Gary told her she'd played enough poker for one nite.

We continue on with our ho-hum life.  In a while, Gary comes in and announces that Morgan's winning at Texas Holdum.  Now, I need to explain.  Gary is the one that has been teaching Morgan and Chloe how to play poker.  He thinks it's a skill that will come in handy later in life.  Go Figger!  Well, he must be doing something right, cause sure enough, she was winning again.  Morgan is evidently a little above normal in her poker skills.  Well, considering that she's playing cartoon people.  She assured me that it's okay, because she doesn't know any of the people she's playing, and they don't know her.  Whatever.....  We told her enough for one night.

We told Morgan it was our 34th anniversary on Saturday, and she had her choice of Picasso's (Italian) or Texas Roadhouse (steak) for dinner on Saturday.  What did she prefer...... Texas Roadhous won her vote. Ok.... what did she want for dinner for Friday night????? Right.... steak.  Off I go to get steaks to grill for dinner.  I did that and corn on the cob, salad, and potatoes.  Great meal.

We get up Saturday morning, and I prepared chocolate covered strawberries and cinnamon rolls for breakfast.  Gary gets up and fixes bacon and waffles.  Morgan is in 7th Heaven.  She and Gary get ready to go for her soccer game, and she asks what I got Gary for our anniversary.  I replay a card.  She tells me I am NOT romantic.  (After 34 years... really?)  She sends me to Walmart to buy fishing lures, which she tells me Gary has been wanting and needing.  Off I we all go on our separate ways.  I come home and wrap the lures (well, I put them in a bag).

They come home and Morgan has me take her to hit golf balls at the range.  That lasted about 20 minutes, cause I just don't feel well.  We come home, and I lay down.  What an exciting anniversary.   We finally go to Texas Roadhouse.  Morgan insists that she doesn't want a kids steak.  Gary agrees, cause Morgan loves steak, and he didn't think she'd enjoy a kids steak.  She orders an 8oz sirloin.  I do the same.  Gary got a pork chop (he's eating healthy... no red meat???).  I ordered fried dill pickles, which were really good.  Our steaks arrive, and we'd both ordered them medium.  They arrived, and they were both pink on the inside, but not oozing blood.  Perfect!  Morgan and I both ate about half of ours, and the rest we end up bringing home.  It was a really good meal.

Morgan insists that we open our gifts.  Gifts?  Yup, she had given Gary the same "romantic" talk.  Here are our gifts.

Yup, I went to Walmart and spent $10 on fishing lures.

Gary went on line and spent a lot more money and got me a Kitchen Aid Pasta Roller set.  What a surprise.
Now, guess what I'm going to do tomorrow... Yup, try my hand at homemade pasta.  I've done it before, but with an electrical machine that does it all.... mix and roll.  Morgan and I bought it a year or so ago at a garage sale.  We even got the video that went with it. It didn't work as well as we had hoped.  Hopefully, the new one will do wonders for our pasta making skills.

Later.... One note.... I've given up proof reading my blog.  I've decided to live lfe on the edge.
