Today was the FWGA kick off luncheon. They had a little over 60 ladies there. We started out about 10 years ago with about 10 ladies. Quite a good growth job. Unfortunately, we have a little over 100 ladies now, and when I play, I only know about 1 out of 50. UGH! Some of us "old timers" had drinks together today after everyone else left, and we were talking about the fact that we missed the good old days, when you always knew everyone in the league. Oh well,I guess that's life.
We did have a shopping frenzy there today. Margie had a trunk show. I bought several tops and one jacket. Sheila got a couple of tops, as did Margie and Gerry. Hey, they were normally like around $79, and we were getting them for like $30. We all love a bargain. Sheila, Gerry, Margie and I bought some matching shirts for a tournament, should we four be on the same team.
I came home, and Gary informed me he had some trailers he wanted me to look at. He's trying to find me what 'I need". It has nothing to do with what I want. Hmmmmm. I am not going to say anything at all. He did tell me that the Class C motor home I was interested in only gets 8 mpg. Ok, if gas is $4 a gallon, then it would only cost $8 to drive to Sheila's house and back. I decided I might need to rethink that option. Between that, insurance for it, and the storage fee, with is about $200 a month, I may not be able to afford one. I am not in a tremendous hurry, though I'd like to figure out what I want to do. I hate indecision.
This past week or two, Morgan has been going to the woods between our house and the park with some boys. They were building a fort. Well, it has grown into a neighborhood project. Now there are girls and boys doing it,and our house seems to be "the place" to get info, drinks, and snacks. The doorbell rang this afternoon, and I answered only to find a you boy wanting to know where Zach was. I told him I didn't even know Zach. He then asked why his bike was in my yard. Well, like I even knew it was there to start with. I am not stupid, so I told him he was probably at the fort with the other kids. There were like 10 down there this afternoon. Gary walks down there at least once every 30 minutes to check on everyone. There are also some other parents that do that as well. We did figure that there is safety in numbers. Gary has made all the kids, boys and girls, swear that they will not walk across the concrete bridge (it probably hides a sewer pipe) that is about 15 feet above the creek, which has a solid rock bottom. That would really hurt if someone fell from there. So far, no one has attempted to cross. They're too busy building forts. Ah, the life of a kid.
That's it for now. I am still anxious for my eye to heal completely, so I can quit wearing the plastic eye protector. I only wear it at home, but it has kept me from getting something in my eye at least two times. Whew. I did go to Walgreen's today and splurged on an expensive pair of reading glasses. They were all of $15. That's high dollar. They did come with a little pouch. You all take care. Hopefully something interesting will happen soon.
