Music and Art

After my good golf game on Wed. night, I went on Thursday to play with the FWGA ladies. All I can say is I sucked. That's enough said. I couldn't hit the ball, I couldn't putt...... On to better things.

Friday was a boring day. Saturday was Morgan's first piano recital. I must explain that she's only been taking lessons for 7 weeks (the teacher made that very clear to everyone before Morgan started playing at the recital). They don't normally have them in the recital that quick, but Morgan already knew they were having one, and she insisted that Janet (the piano teacher) let her participate in it. Morgan picked out a piece and practiced every day. Janet even gave her extra free lessons. She also tried to talk Morgan out of it (nicely of course), but Morgan insisted that she was going to play in the recital. She's worked on it for at least 3 weeks every day for 30 minutes.

Saturday - the big day started out great. Morgan really surprised us all. She had her Mom fix her hair. She even had Angie get her a new dress. This kid was going all out. Angie had to work and couldn't go, but she explained to Morgan, and Morgan was fine with it. We had to get Morgan ready for the recital. It started at 1:30, and Morgan got ready about 2 hours before hand, and kept trying to get us to go early so we'd get a good seat.

The recital was at Janet's church, in their choir room. We got there and early (only Janet was there) so we took a few pictures of the beaming prodigy.

There was not one bit of fear in this kid! She was sooooo confident. She was much more confident than Janet was. Eric (Morgan's Dad) and Chloe arrived separate from Gary and I. Everyone knew Chloe, cause she took from Janet until a month or so ago when she knew she was going to take up the flute or clarinet (turned out to be the oboe... different post). They were all fussing over Chloe's "baby" sister. Morgan was first on the agenda...... after Janet's speech about Morgan being new to piano.....

After the recital, Janet gave out awards. Morgan (and the others pictured) all got an award for their first recital under Janet's instructions. Morgan didn't know that was coming, and she got really excited. By the way, the two weirdo's on the far left of this picture were going to a southern bell event right after the recital, so they wore their costumes.

Can you tell she was strutting?

We had photo op time...... along with cookies and drinks.... Oh yes.... papa Gary bought her some roses......

We all got in the car to go home, and Gary decided we should all go to Richardson's Cottonwood Arts and Crafts Festival. So, off we went. We got there and finally found a place to park, and it just happened to be right across the street from the entrance to the festival. Then, there was no charge to get in. First stop was letting the girls throw some clay. They each made something that looked like it was half bowl, and half vase. It was only $5 including the firing. We won't get them back for 2 weeks due to the large volume of "works of art" that were made by all the children there.

Yes, they both got clay all over their clothes. It was a bit messy. Morgan and Chloe argued, so Gary took Morgan to do her thing, and I took Chloe. Chloe wanted to see EVERY piece of art there. First up.... our $5 lemonades (that's the price of each).

Morgan and Gary found us, and caused Chloe to throw a fit cause they weren't supposed to be with us. They ended up tailing us like two spies, and Chloe was none the wiser. They're at the stage we all go thru..... little sisters like to bug big sisters, and big sisters like to boss around little sisters. Mom, Dad, Mimi and Papa all was to slap the crap out of them...... but of course that would never happen. I just thank God I only have them for short periods of time together. Gary and I both prefer them one at a time.
I bought a ceramic tile with a cute saying. Chloe found one she wanted, and I bought one for Morgan. Chloe studied Helen Keller for a school project, so she was elated to find a quote of hers in just the perfect colors.

We then came home and took the wilted roses (left them in the hot truck too long) in and attempted to save them (you can see we saved a few) in the house, got my Dad and off we went to Picasso's for Italian food. Morgan wanted Sho-Gun, but I refused to spend that kind of money. Morgan has expensive tastes. Anyway, we had a great dinner. I had their seafood pasta, with mussels, clams, shrimp and red peppers. It was to die for. Dad had his standby.... egg plant parmesan, Gary had pizza Margarite, Chloe had Pepperoni-cheese pizza, and Morgan had fetuccine alfredo. Gertriana was our waitress, and she chided me for not coming in more often. They're now so busy, you need reservations. Guess that's good if you know it ahead of time. They made room for us, and all went well.

Today I spent the entire day working up the final schedule for the Adams Pro-Golf Tour that is happening while Sheila and I are in Canada. I have my final meeting with Don about it on Tuesday. Oh.... like everything at Firewheel..... they moved the tournament to a different course (they have 63 holes there) and didn't tell me till the last minute, so I'm scrambling cause I'll need extra people to shuttle the players between the various courses. #%*@?*!!!!

The racoons are mating outside again.... the screaming is keeping me awake. Guess I'll close for now.
I do want to apologize to everyone that faithfully reads my blog. I've been sick (see old post) and having trouble getting back in the swing. It also doesn't help that Sheila is always working and doesn't play much any more.

Anyway, Here's a bumper sticker....
