Friday afternoon, Sheila, Joyce and I attended a painting class. We were supposed to paint the Grand Canyon in oil paint. We had three hours. It was a seniors class, so needless to say, Sheila was the youngest person there, but I seriously don't think Joyce was the oldest. I was a middle of the road person.
Oils are Joyce and my favorite medium. Sheila has never painted in oils before, so I'm not sure what she thought about oil over acrylic. But, off we went. It was really quite fun.
Mine, but there was a window right behind me. Trust me, It is not painted the way it looks.
We all were happy with our pictures. Joyce and I are such whiners...... we wished we had some of our own brushes. The ones we use are pretty worn, and it was impossible to make a straight line with the ones she had us use. We may sneak them in next time. Joyce had so much fun, I think she's going to start painting again when she gets home.
Friday evening, after painting, we all met at Casa Millagro for dinner. It was the three of us, and Sue and Gerry. Margie had to cancel at the last minute due to a conflict. We had a nice easy dinner full of laughter and conversation, and then we went to the Eissman Theatre. We saw a Black and White comedy murder mystery play. Before the play, we all had a drink there. I had bought an app for my iPhone that converts normal speech into a song. I had previously done one and emailed it to Sheila. While we were drinking our drinks, I recorded one of Gerry. Her husband thinks she spends too much money on apps. By the way, she only had one app, Words With Friends. Anyway, we recorded it, had a great laugh at the outcome, then we emailed it to her husband. I did record one of Joyce. She made a comment that the wine servings were quite generous. I taped me telling her "Say it one more time", and she did. I cannot get the "m4a" extension file type to upload to BLOGGER, so if you want to hear it, ask Sheila to forward it to you. They really are quite funny. I made one for Sheila earlier in the week. She thinks I have too much time on my hands.
Anyway, there was a singer to entertain us before the play, and during intermission. Beautiful black girl, with a voice that matched her good looks. Camera are NOT allowed, but I accidentally took one before the play began. By the way. To encourage people ratting on people that take pictures.... if you report a person taking pictures, they will reward you with a free tee-shirt. Needless to say, no one takes pictures of the play. They are serious about not wanting cameras used.
Poor quality, but it's sometimes the thought that counts. We all went home after the theatre. I don't know about anyone else, but I was tired. I also had to get up early for a golf tournament.
Sheila and I were partners in a 2 person scramble. This was her first golf outing since her knee surgery. She did play as well as she probably should have, but she didn't have any pain. I think she would have done better, but it's a natural instinct to mentally protect the knee by not being able to relax enough to perform 100%. I played fairly well, but cannot compete with scratch golfers. This is the FGA, so there "ain't no way" it's gonna be handicapped where a high handicapped team can win. We shot maybe an 84, and all winner teams were UNDER par gross. We shot a 74 net. Good news, we were not DAL (dead ass last). That was our objective for the day. Our simple goal of not coming in last, having fun, and enjoying a few beers was met. Sheila went straight home, I, unfortunately stayed and helped the good guys celebrate one of them winning almost $500 for his half of a skin. Crap, Sheila and I never got a birdie. Oops, sorry about that slip of the tongue, I mean finger. Anyway, I had way too much beer. Tired me out, so I did nothing all day Sunday. Well, I did get all my furniture moved back into place from the Christmas arrangement. Gary helped.... a little. I also finally wired up the surround sound. It just doesn't work Dolby on the U-verse system. It's just basic stereo. Oh well. Maybe I'll do the one in the living room next.
Today, the house keepers came, so I had an early start. I got up, made beds, and did a couple loads of laundry. The grand kids were here this afternoon. Gary cooked brunch for Chloe, Morgan, and one of Chloe's friends brunch. That would be okay, but no one cleaned up the mess. They all went to the creek to look for rocks. On and on. Mud in the family room (the one the maids had just cleaned), broken beer bottles on the deck (they couldn't find rocks only..... they collected "sea glass" from the creek....aka broken beer bottles). Anyway, come dinner time, Gary wanted to know why I wasn't cooking. Well duh! I told him the kitchen was too dirty for me to try. He bought me dinner at Whataburger. He did decide he'd clean up the kitchen tomorrow morning. I'm not sure why he needs to wait, guess there was no sense doing it if I wasn't going to cook.
If you all didn't watch Betty White's Birthday Special.... you missed a funny, FUNNY special. She and her senior friend did a candid camera type of thing. They had an older lady try and get a young man to help her join thge mile high club. He never told her no.... but she definitely had his worried. That's it for now. The gang doesn't have anything scheduled as a group until Wednesday. Then it's lunch and Mah Jong at the golf course. Later.....oh, I didn't check or grammer errors. Maybe next time.
