I have run out of coordinating colored wrapping paper before I've met the limit on my credit card. To top it off.... the neighbor that buys us a gift EVERY YEAR comes over last night and hands me two gifts (they buy for Stella also). They're leaving early to have a Christmas vacation in Virginia with their daughter, and they only had last night and tonight to deliver their Christmas gifts. Whew..... that gives me today to go find them some last minute gift. Yup..... same routine every year. I keep thinking they'll remember I am always late with a gift, and remove me from their list. Oh well. I'll come up with something.
Today, I again will take Dawn to radiation. Took her yesterday, and she had a visit with the Rad Doctor. Today, she is visiting a new doctor, now sure what he specializes in, but while she was in radiation yesterday, I went and picked up some forms she wanted to get. I am looking forward to this visit.... they actually have magazines I haven't read and re-read a zillion times. After today, I'm off radiation duty until the Wed. after Christmas. Then I'll resume till she finishes up completely with a double radiation dose on the 31st, skipping only the 28th for Angie's surgery. Then it'll be life back to "normal", as I know it.
My party with the neighbors turned out really interesting. I really like the neighbor on the west of my house. Her name is Cynthia, she's 47, divorced, a lawyer, and she has no children. Very funny lady. We had La Madeline Tomato Basil Soup, and Pasta House Italian salad. She had beer as her main drink. One neighbor had a six pack of beer, and one whole bottle of wine. Yup, she had a fun evening. I had 2 Coronas.... I was a good girl. They also had chocolate ice cream with coffee liquor and toasted pecan sundaes, vanilla ice cream with rum raisins and toasted pecan sundaes, chocolate drop shots (Frangelico Hazelnut Liquor) with lemon, and lemon cookies. Oh yeah, they were also drinking Patron Coffee Tequila shots. Yup, they had fun.
On the left in Cynthia, holding the door prize she won.... I know, I'm soooo good. On the right, Gay, the Nazi Nutritionist ( :-0 )
Gary put a few lighted deer in the back yard, and he also put lights on a cedar tree that they're next to. It looked (note, that IS past tense) really good. A few hours before the party, I asked him to turn on the lights, and to also put some type of protection over the surge protector he was using to run electricity to the back yard. OK, he says. He didn't do it, of course, got busy doing something else. Well, it stormed like hell for about 1/2 hour during the evening, and the rain gushed off the roof of the house (yes, he'd promised for the millionth time to clean the gutter over the patio), and sure enough, the rain got into the surge protector, and it blew a breaker. No big deal, right? Just one less yard ornament lighted. Here's a picture of the front, as it looked just before the party. I will admit, Gary did pretty good.
Well, that was then, and this is now. He screwed up. Not only did it blow the breaker for the outside outlet on the back of the house, but it also blew the breaker that goes to the refrigerator in the garage. Okay, he reset the breaker, still no electricity. He started turning on and off all breakers, and voila.... he burned up 3 existing breakers. He, of course, had to fix them right away. Problem is, he didn't label any of them as he was working on them, and though all the breakers are now holding, there is still no electricity to the back yard or the refrigerator outlet. He did, plug the fridge into an extension cord and ran it to another outlet. Whew! I just need to start reminding (aka nagging) him to clean the gutters and to find the reset outlet that is associated with the back yard. Maybe I should lock him in the garage till it's fixed.
Yesterday evening, Angie took me as her treat, to have a shellac mani-pedi. It's guaranteed to last two weeks. What? I want it to last about a month. It costs $71 plus tip for a french manicure mani-pedil. I think it's a little cheaper if you don't get the "french" part. Hmmmm. I'm not sure I will go back for that particular type of finish. Angie got the same thing as me, and Chloe just got a manicure. Both she and Angie swear by the shellac finish. It won't chip or anything.... it just grows out looking like the day you got it.
Ok, we'll see. Here is a picture of my nails. I'll recheck them periodically and see how they work fare. It's a little blurry, but whatever. I do want to say there is NOT a white dot on my cuticle area of the third finger. It is just a reflection.
I want Sheila to see this. I tried to send via Facebook, but other than posting it to your wall, I guess it didn't work, and I didn't want to post it there. I saw this in a magazine I read while waiting for Dawn. All I had was my cell phone, so I took a few photos on the sly. Funny part is she talks about her ranch, and I remember Barbara telling us that each of her kids had a house on their cattle ranch. Hmmmm.... Anyway, she is beautiful, and evidently still single.

I couldn't get her name and the article in one shot..... and was in a hurry. Anyway, I wanted to make sure her name appeared in the article.
That's all the excitement here. I'm getting ready to head to the grocery store. I've got to come up with some cookies or a gift for my neighbors. GASP!
Here's a geezer moment for thought.
I'll close with this....
GOOD NEWS..... if you read this, so did you.
