We saw "Menopause - the Musical". Sue did a fantastic job of getting us front row seats. We all laughed all night long. It is hilarious.... from start to end. They start out as 4 women who don't know each other until they meet over a sale bin at Bloomingdale's. They all have one thing in common..... menopause.
I must say, some of the songs were better than the original version. They took, for example, a Tina Turner song and changed it to reflect hot flashes, moments of forgetfulness, etc. Trust me, we could relate to all of them. A man was sitting next to Sheila, and when the actress sang about her own personal summer (hot flash) Marilyn Monroe style, she singled him out. She sat on his lap, etc., it was too cool. My favorite part was where one of the actresses found the answer to her problems with her own vibrator....... which also doubled as a microphone. Enough said!
The final number, they'd all adapted to the changes they were going thru, and were celebrating the fact that they'd made it through their menopause. One of the actresses came down and got Sue and me, then came Gerry, Margie and Sheila to go on stage and do a can-can type of dance with her. We danced for a few minutes, then they went down and got more women, then more women, etc., until the stage was full. I left the stage and got my camera...... Weren't the girls cute?
After the show, we headed back to Casa Milagro only to find it closed, so we went to Joe's (????) and asked if we could get a drink. Ready for this? They don't have a liquor license yet, so we could only have one free wine or beer each. Gosh, what to do.... drink a free wine here, or go somewhere else and pay. You guessed it... we stayed for our one glass of beverage. The girl was obviously new, cause she filled our wine glasses all the way to the top. We discussed the musical, and Gerry's 50th anniversary trip she and Don are taking to Quebec, and everything else.
