GLEN ROSE FOLLOW-UP

I'm posting a picture I took of Sheila, Gary T, and Carlos. This was Thursday when the four of us were playing together. We were blessed with fantastic weather all weekend. I've already updated about the shoot-out, so I won't go there again in detail, but again I'll mention that I won!

We ate supper at the Hammond House Barbecue house. The others raved about the ribs, but I had sliced brisket and fried okra. Yummo, as Rachael would say. We slept in a little late Friday morning, and we had breakfast at Sonic. We missed the 9am cut off time for breakfast at the hotel. Then, we played 18 holes in the afternoon. I got a closest to the pin, and won my flight by shooting an 86. Yee Haw! Friday night we had dinner with all the golfers. Burgers at the golf course. We went back to the hotel, and there was a Texas Holdum game going, but my gang watched TV. We were all in the same room, so it was a rowdy evening. Most of us went to bed around 10:30.

Saturday, again, it was Sonic for breakfast for me. Sheila and Carlos ate at the hotel, and Gary T had his Boost for breakfast. Off to the course. Gary T picked our outfits this year. A recap.... we have a new tradition of dressing as a team on Saturdays. Last year, we were bikers with tats and matching outfits. This year, we wore hats. This picture was taken late in the evening, but it was a hit.

Randy did a great job of running the tournament, and we had him try on a hat so I can send Wanda a picture of him with hair.

I think Gary T looks good with hair...

Anyway, Saturday morning, we played individual golf again. I shot an 85, and again won some money. Carlos won a skin, and I can't remember for sure, but I think Sheila didn't, and Gary T didn't. Saturday afternoon we played a team event. My team won that. Gosh, I was on a streak! We went back to the hotel for a couple of hours, then back to the golf course for Mexican food, then back to the hotel for the Calcutta.
We decided to kill some time, so we went to downtown Glen Rose for their first ever "Moonshine Tasting" event. The paper said it started at 7pm. We got there around 7:15 or so, and the tasting was over. They said they'd give us a free sample, but they didn't have any clean glasses. Now, are you ready for this? She said it's 120 proof and would kill any germs on the glasses, so we agreed to try a drink of it out of a glass that had already been used.

Gary T started us off. I figured if it didn't kill him, I'd taste it.

We all tasted it. It burned something fierce. Smooth

is NOT a word anyone in their right mind would use. It didn't taste like anything, but then I suppose fire wouldn't taste good either.

We ran into Larry W, from the golf tournament. He brought his wife with him. They weren't too impressed .
Above is Larry W with Gary T, and below is Larry W, his wife, and Sheila.
They were listening to the music. Carlos and I wondered around the square. It is a cute little town, but mainly antique and kitchy stores. They also had a LOUD band.

We found a local wearing one of our hats......
Want to know why?????
Cause his girlfriend thinks he looks better with hair!
We went back in time for the Calcutta. Gary T and I bought a team out right. We all bought half of our own team. Then we headed for bed early.... around 10:30 or 11 again.
We got up Sunday, and all played in our scramble. When all was said and done, Gary T's team came in first place with a 62. Sheila's team had a 67, Carlos team had a 64, and my team had a 64. The 2nd place team had a 63, and it was the team Gary T and I bought, so we got half the money they won. WAHOO! Together, we did fairly well on the winnings. To celebrate, we all went out to eat with Craig and Sharon P. We couldn't find the restaurant we were looking for.... Hollywood and Vine, so we settled for a place that specializes in Black Angus meat. I ordered firecrackers for the table (jalapenos stuffed with cheese, then covered with bacon and grilled). They were fantastic. I got shrimp pasta and a salad, and Carlos had chicken fried steak, Gary T had a burger and Sheila had... dang I can't remember, but I think it was salmon and sweet tater fries with her meal. She and I had a mimosa which was fairly decent. All that for only $120, but Gary T and Carlos split the bill.
I already posted about the SK Tournament on Monday, and Tuesday I worked at the golf course in the am and pm on a tournament. Wednesday, I hosted the Tight Lies Volunteers Tournament. We usually have about 40 people, but Jim M. set it up this year, and we only had 16 players, counting me. Oh well... more gifts for those that attended. We played a scramble. We all ate lunch, then picked gifts.

I didn't play well in the tournament, but I putted well. I always putted the 2nd putt, and only missed one all day. On the first putts, I made a couple of birdie putts, but I couldn't hit the ball worth a flip. Thank goodness I had a good team. We came in first place.

Everyone selected a gift, and there was one left. I took it, and won a 3 iron. Gary T got a driver, and everyone else got the smaller gifts. No one thought to take the clubs, because there were just the head covers to the clubs wrapped and the packages were too small. I gave away a rechargeable floor vacuum, shoe bags filled with wine and Irish cream, Bolle sun glasses, ice chests, Bubba containers, camera, etc.. Everyone was happy.
Today was my day of rest...yeah right. I had to pack, get Dad's meds ready, wash clothes, wash the car, so on. I also managed to cook dinner and wash dishes. I need to stay on Gary's good side cause he'll be alone with Dad another 3 days.
That's it.... I'm going to go to bed so I can get up early and drive to my next adventure.....
