Movies and Golf

Nothing much going on here on the home front.  Tuesday, Sheila and I went to see the movie THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL.  I loved the movie.  It was  love story, as far as I was concerned.  It starred (I had to look these up) Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Mageeie Smith, and Tom Wilkinson.  Sheila really liked it also, I'm just not sure if she liked it the way I did.  I prefer a movie that has more of a real life theme. Love lost, love found, and a happy ending.  Yup, right up my alley.

After the movie, Sheila and I decided to get in some golf practice.  We headed for Top Golf.  I had never been before, but Sheila had.  She showed me all the ropes.  It's really a pretty cool place.

It's at least two levels high.  We were on the lower of the two levels.  You are assigned a station, and it's set up similar to a bowling alley.  You have an overhead monitor to show your scores, and you have station where you hit from that dispenses balls one at a time, and there is also a pub table and chairs.  They offer food and drink.  We had beers, tea, water, and some slider burgers.  It was really cool.  You shoot at one of the many target, each is a different color, and you get points based on how close to the flag your balls comes to rest.  If it's not within the netting in the circles, you get nothing.  Of course,  Sheila is ultra competitive, so we had to complete against each other.

Needless to say, I waxed her something awful.  I don't remember the scores of the last two games, or even who won.  Amazing isn't it?  Guess I got too caught up in all the excitement. You can't see Sheila's score here, but it shows mine because I was the winner.  What can I say?

Talk about excitement, there was a male in the station next to us that definitely thought Sheila was "it".  He started out telling her he really liked her hair.  Sort of caught her off guard, but she talked to him for a while.  She commented on how well he was hitting the ball, then he'd tell her how good she was hitting the ball.  It was sort of pathetic how much they chatted back and forth.  They continued until he started crying.  He'd hit himself in the leg with his club.  You know how those 6 hear old boys can be.  He was also in need of a nap by that time.  His dad said he always (the young boy) always flirts with the ladies.  Me thinks Sheila could be a natural born cougar.  She sure enjoyed his attention.  I must say though, he was one cutie.  And to be honest, he could hit that ball like you wouldn't believe.  We should have gotten his name, cause he will probably be a famous golfer some day.

After we finished up hitting balls, we headed home, but I conned Sheila into stopping at Cabela's Sporting Goods Store.  It's huge.

I'd never been nor had Sheila, so it didn't take much begging.  There must be something special about wearing camouflage underwear, shoes, hats, gloves, jackets, or using camouflage chairs, ladders, tents, cookware, etc.  That store is full of it.  Sheila also helped me look at cooking stoves for Gary.  He wants a portable grill to take with us in the RV.  So, it has to be small and run on propane.  I found a couple I think he'd like.  But I really only want a grill.  We looked at shoes for Sheila also.  Didn't find what she was looking for.  We did see this.....

That is one HUGE catfish hiding underneath another one.  It must weigh about 20 to 30 pounds.
They also had some really neat stuffed animal exhibits.  There was one display that really stumped us.  Why would they show two animals mating?  This bear wouldn't normally mate with a deer, so I just didn't get it.  Neither did Sheila.
That was the extent of our Cabela tour.  Neither of us bought anything.  I would like to say that if you want to see a variety of fishing poles and lures, then that is the place for you to go.

Today we met with our financial money manager.  That was really informative.  In the last 12 years, we've spent about 1/4 of our savings.  Gary was not happy about that.  Hopefully, Obama won't get reelected, and the economy will make a come back.  We definitely need to make some money or poor Angie won't inherit anything.  Crap, I think I'll just go ahead and spend it all.

I also went to PT today.  They're introducing me to Pilates.  Main reason?  I'm almost finished with my covered exercises.  There are a series of Pilates exercises they want me to do.  They've started me on a few of them.  They will introduce me to the remainder they want me to be aware of.  They are done on the floor, so they are basically done without putting excess strain on the back and knees.  Guess they're hinting that it'll be a life long exercise program.  Hmmmm.  You know, it's one of those things you want to do, but I'm not sure I'm the exercise every day of your life kind of person.  Of course, I'm going to try becoming that person.  Beats the crap our of having a back ache all the time.

I also got an inverter contraption.  You lock your feet in it, and then you can hang upside down.  It's supposed to be really good for your back if you have back pain.  Gary is going to try it also.  We're going to try "hanging" upside down twice a day and see if it helps.  Gary gets a really bad headache, but it didn't bother me like that.  I think we should just do it for a short time that doesn't hurt our heads, and then gradually see if we can increase our hang time.  Will let you know in a few weeks if it works.

Later, and while I'm thinking of it....I'll share some of my new found wisdom with you....
The older I get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.
