TOMORROW IS DEPARTURE DAY

I have made a hundred trips to Walmart, maybe a thousand, and I think I am finally ready to depart early in the morning for Spring Break at Mustang Island.  I am just hoping that it is half as much fun as it was when I went in January with Joyce and Sheila.  Since we waited so long to get reservations (we were informed by the State Park reservation people, that we need to reserve our spots when they open up THIS April for next year.) we couldn't secure an official RV spot, so we're going to stay on the beach for the first 7 days, then the last few days in the RV area.  We will come back on the 15th, unless I change plans.  Can you believe that the number one destination spot for Spring Break in Texas is South Padre Island.  Mustang Island State Park is on the north tip of Mustang Island.  It is the number two spot.  I would have thought it would be Galveston, so I'm confused by the report Angie saw.  Oh well, personally, I hope it's not overly crowded.   They only have 300 beach spots, and they limit it to 8 people per spot.

Sheila has company in from Canada for Spring Break.  They saw the pictures on the BLOG from the January trip, and they wanted to go there instead of San Antonio.  Those Canadians do love their sunshine!  They are staying in Port Aransas, in a beach house.  I think it's like 1 1/2 blocks from the beach, but that is pretty close, really.  We may touch base with them while we're all there together.

Gary has been really super about helping me get ready.  He still doesn't like the fact that I bought the RV.  I didn't invite him to go on this trip.  Now, I know he really wants to go, but it's because the grand daughters are going.  Well, he can just stay home.  Honestly, it's a more pleasant trip with the girls if he's not along.  He never tells them no, and it just makes for one big riot.  Even Angie gets tired of Gary giving them everything and ignoring any plans she and I have made, cause he and the girls come up with something different they want to do.  Maybe he'll break down and enjoy it more when he does get to go.

Angie's birthday will happen while we're there.  I am taking a brownie mix for the girls, so they can bake her a birthday brownie-cake.  I also bought her a beach cover-up, as well as a wi-fi hot spot device.  You pay the device, and then you buy card, and when you run out of minutes, you just recharge the card via the internet and your credit card.  You only pay for minutes you use, no monthly plan to worry about.  She only needs it when she travels.  Hey, I just thought, I can borrow it when I go on trips, and just pay for my usage.

I have located all the TV channels that should be available.  I found out that since I don't have satellite service, I will have to key in special digits to watch channel 3, for example.  If it's assigned to NBC, then I will key in 3.1.  That is the basic code for NBC.  If they want, since it's digital, they can offer other programming using the say base number.  3.2 could be for city meeting coverage, 3.3 could be for Spanish programming, etc.  I wish I had known this when I was in Galveston.  I guess because I've had satellite service for so long, I got behind in technology for "over the air" free service.  I'm anxious to try it.  I still need to buy satellite service for the RV.  I'm not sure if I'll really use "in motion satellite" that often.  Basically, only when the grand daughters are along.  They cost a;round $2000, and the price keeps dropping.  I may just buy the tripod type, and be done with it.  They're cheap and I also won't have to pay $800 to $1000 to get the satellite installed.

That's it for now.  Hopefully, Angie's new wi-fi hot spot will work, and I'll be able to blog while on the beach.  Time will tell.  Later.....
