What a miserable way to start the day. We all met at Sherrill Park for the Susan Komen Golf Tournament. We were supposed to tee off at 9:00 a.m., but didn't start until about 10:30 a.m. because it was raining. They held part of the raffle waiting for the rain to quit. Sheila won (don't bust a gut laughing) some jewelry which she promised to wear New Year's Eve, and a golf bag. Margie won some beauty products and a round of golf, a dog purse (dog is right.... it was awful)and I can't remember what else, and I won some jewelry and a golf bag almost exactly like Sheila's. These are not bags to hold clubs, but a purse type accessory golf themed bag. Gerry was skunked.
We finally were sent out, and before we reached the hole, it started raining again. We made par on #9, #10, #11, and finally a birdie on #12 thanks to a beautiful drive by me, then a fabulous shot by Sheila to put it within 3 feet of the pin. We thought we were on a roll.... but our roll was not to be. Oh... this was a step aside scramble. If your shot is used, then you cannot play the subsequent shot. It's a real killer. Everyone did contribute...... especially Margie and her putting comments. We just couldn't "score". It rained off and on periodically throughout the morning. I think part of the problem was Sheila just didn't focus on the game. Sorry about the layout of the following video.... I fixed it on the PC, but Blogger won't accept it flipped..... live and learn. We ended up scoring a gross 69 to come in sixth place. 65 won the tournament, which was NOT handicapped. Margie also won "longest putt" and won a crystal bowl. Casa Millagro catered the event which we scarffed (sp?) down, then they gave away more raffle prizes. I won a goodie bag with hair care products, Gerry won something, and I think Margie won some more. We ended up doing pretty well for prizes. Oh yes.... for 6th place, we won PINK leather shoe bags. I have previously won 2 other shoe bags, at least, and except for the color, this is the nicest of them all.
All in all, the Fab Four were a little off, but had fun anyway.Gerry's Golf Swing
