I did play Keeton Park with AT&T. HOORAY..... I shot a 46 to get into the Ryder Cup by points alone, not on a standby basis. I had a ton of trouble with my chip shots. I do think I'll practice in the next day or so. Problem was, I kept looking up. I also had a couple of 3 putts, and those always kill you. Even worse, no birdies or one putts. Next week! After golf, a bunch of us went to eat Mexican food.
The problem with the car was that the throttle motor had gone out. Wow, no wonder they put it in the "limp home" mode. They were surprised I actually could bypass the limp home mode by turning the car off, and then restarting it. Makes you wonder what could have happened. There was no charge for the repair, so I only spent $64 on new rainx windshield wipers, and an oil change. That sounds sort of high to me.

That ignorant daughter of mine (yes Angie) sent an e-mail out to gawd knows who. There has been a doctored photo of Sarah Palin in a US Flag themed bikini toting a gun making the rounds via e-mail. Angie cut my head off of a picture and pasted it onto the fake picture of Palin, and sent it out saying I was the original picture. I started laughing, and laughing, because she is so creative with her humor. Then, I realized I couldn't tell who she sent it to. It then was not quite so funny. She is clever, I must say. I know it's obvious it's a cut and paste, but she wanted it that way.
Dad, as most of you know, doesn't know very many people that he can visit with socially. Anyway, after being here a little over a year, he finally broke down and began visiting with a lady named Gerry who lives down the street. Other than Gerry and Sheila's mom, he just wouldn't have anything to do with a female. He felt guilty if he spoke to another female. For the last few months, he's been visiting Gerry and having coffee with her at her house about once a week. She has been very ill, and she recently had to put her faithful beloved German Shepard to sleep because it had cancer. She also has been unable to walk outside like she used to. Poor thing, she and Dad both looked forward to his weekly visit. I think he was the only company she had for days on end, and there she was, stuck in her house, tethered to oxygen.
Last week, he took her a piece of chocolate mousse cheese cake from the Cheesecake Factory. She said she was sorry, but she felt too bad to visit with him that day. She called us Thursday, and thanked us for the cheese cake and told us she was going into the hospital for a hernia operation. She is on continuous oxygen, and reminded me the state my own mom was in during her last month or so. She hung up saying she'd call us when she got home from the hospital and then she'd visit with Dad.
Today we were sitting and talking. We were discussing the fact that we hadn't heard from her, and thought she should have been home by now. We decided we'd try and locate her sister, who lives somewhere in our neighborhood (no, we don't have her name) and inquire as to how Gerry was doing. Jim W. came by today while I was golfing, and told Dad that she passed away while she was in the hospital. Dad is taking it fairly hard. Not that they were that close, but don't you know it must be depressing for him. It reminds him of last year, when we lost his beloved Granny and then my mom, his first wife. He makes a couple of new friends, and one of them dies. I did ask him if he was upset, and he said it really bothered him. I asked him tonight if I could give him a Zanax when he got ready to go to bed. He immediately agreed. That tells me it is still on his mind. When he has something unpleasant happen, he just cannot go to sleep. I'm sure he'll be fine tomorrow, but he heard the news too close to bed time. He'll sleep well with the Zanax in him.
That's it for now. I am sooooo glad I got my GPS back. Oh yeah.... did I tell you I got my GPS back?
