HAPPY EASTER

First of all, I hope you all had an Easter as nice as I had.  I'll drop back a couple of days, and bring you up to date. 

Friday, I was not feeling well.  Not sure what was going on.  Just blah.  Angie, Chloe and Morgan were also a little under the weather.  Chloe ended up with strep, as did Angie.  Morgie was like me.... just blah.  Thank goodness they didn't have school that day. 

Saturday was even worse.  I was definitely ill.  Stomach virus, I guess.  Anyway, Angie kept sending me an item she saw on Pinterest,and was determined that I make it for Easter.  I go out and buy all the supplies.  I slaved, in spite of being ill.  I do, well used to..., consider myself a little crafty-artsie.  Here is what I was supposed to make...

First of all, it's supposed to be a bunny digging carrots.  It requires a round cake pan.  Instead of borrowing Sheila's golf ball cake pan, I decided to use a round cake pan, and to adapt my recipe.  I baked an 11X17 pan of brownies.  Then, I baked one round pan of brownies, and one round pan and some coconut cupcakes.

So far so good.  Well, so I thought.  Now, before you go any further, I suggest you empty your bladder.  I cannot be responsible for any leakage you may incur while laughing.  Here it is.....

My hubby, Gary, is one of my biggest fans.  I asked him what I thought.  After about 5 minutes of laughing, he said it looked like someone ran over it.  Hmmmmmm.......
Okay, I decided to turn it over.  I added a face, and some strawberries that were soon to become carrots.

I texted this image to Angie, and between her and Chloe, they told me to stop, and accept the fact that some Pinterest projects are NOT to be tried at home by NON-professional cake decorators.  Crap..... I just quit.

Today, I got up and got all the eggs ready to decorate.  The Angie and her family go to church every Sunday, and today was no exception.  I go the table set, and got our egg hunt ready.  See, we're weird.  We dye eggs Easter Day as part of the festivities.  Ahead of time, I stuff eggs with clues and candy.  The first clue is a poem, sorta like this....
Boys are made snails and puppy dog tails.
What are girls made of?
They are supposed to come up with the answer
Sugar and spice and everything nice.
Then, they should deduce that there is an egg hidden by the sugar and spices.  They get that egg, and inside is a piece of candy and a clue to the next egg location.  It goes on and on till they find the GOLDEN egg.  This year, there was $10 inside the golden egg.  The hunt lasts about 30-40 minutes.  They girls love it.  I did it with Angie every year when she was a little child. 

Then I cooked lunch.  We had green beans, Easter pasta (noodles shaped like eggs, rabbits and carrots), ham, roast beef with gravy, oven roasted rosemary potatoes, sweet potato tots, and hot rolls.  TA DA!  I was ready.

Angie and clan arrive, and they want to eat before they do anything else.  Hold the phone.... they're working on the cake.  Here is the first revision.Note the tail is still on the belly, it became a beer belly.

Here is the next revision.  It became a full blown FEMALE Easter Bunny.

Oh yeah..... giving birth to Easter Peeps.  It was all down hill from there.  I do want to say one thing.  I have NOT lost my baking touch.  The bunny was made out of coconut cake, and it was delicious.  The brownies, of course, were good as well.  Over 1/4th of it was eaten.

Then it was time for gifts.  Here is what Angie got us.... plants to go into the planter that Chloe made for us.

Of course, the girls got their Easter Baskets.  Angie got a silicone baking mat, and Eric got to watch anything he wanted on TV.

Then, the egg hunt started. 

After that, Annie got her treats.  Now, Annie is a dog that was born to hunt eggs.  She has her own basket, and don't anyone get in between her and her basket.  This is one of Angie's favorite things on Easter.... giving Annie her eggs.  There are maybe 12, and they all have Beggin Bacon Treats for dogs inside.

Then, Eric and I watched TV while Gary did the dishes.  I was really ill most of the day, and actually laid on the sofa throughout the entire day.



Eric and I watched all of the Masters.  Gary and the girls played checkers, played on the computer, and played Monopoly and poker.  What an Easter combo.  You know, it was really a great holiday.  I must admit, the biggest hit WAS the bunny cake.  It gave everyone a laugh.  They headed home around 6, and it seems so lonely and quiet now that they're gone.  Gosh, that's what holidays are about..... being with family and loved ones.

Last night was Sue and Clay's going away party.  I was behind on my Easter things, but also just didn't feel like going.  I am hoping I'll feel better tomorrow.  Carlos and I are supposed to be in a golf tournament this coming weekend, and I sure need to practice.  It rained her almost all day... a soft rain, but steady.  It is also supposed to rain thru Thursday. 

I am supposed to have lunch with Dawn tomorrow.  She is feeling better, but still has pain in her lung where the tube was inserted.  I'm pretty sure it's sore from the lung removal, not because of the drain.  Hopefully, she'll be up and around soon.
