Just Doing my Thang

I am having a great day.  Hope you all are also.  If you're not, don't tell me about it, cause I don't want you to ruin MY day.  Today is all about me.  Yeah right.

Yesterday, I took a walk with Gary.  We did NOT take the dog.  We did a new route thru the woods.  Gary started out just walking behind me.  It's one of those things where he wants to walk with me, but I obviously am not in as good of shape as him, so he'll stay a little behind me so I'll know he's not 100% into walking with me.  After a while, I picked my pace up and he actually started enjoying the walk.  He took me to his favorite "fish watching" spot, and found me 10 huge carp to see.  The picture doesn't do them justice, but if you visit me and go for a walk, I'll show them to you.   This is also taken with just my cell phone, and no cropping or adjusting was done on them.

We go over the river and thru the woods, and I saw my second snake of the season.  I did NOT aggravate it.  I was on the bridge with it, and if it started chasing me, I would have had to go over the railing, cause I can't run with my new knee.  I gave the snake a lot of respect, and even more room.  You can just barely see his head.  He was maybe 3 feet long, so obviously it was a water snake.  Poison?  I don't know.
We decided to document my fat body, before I get into too good of shape.  (Ever the optimist).  As you can see, we have such a grand place to walk.

This is my favorite bridge overlook of the creek.  This is taken from one of the bridges we cross.  We actually left the park trail, and got onto a new street, and this particular bridge is part of the new street.  We only go on the street for about 2 city blocks, then we go back down into the woods again.  I wanted to see a particular portion of the woods, and it's too far to walk the loop and then to where I wanted to go, so we took a short cut.

Even with the short cut, we managed to walk about 2.5 miles in 30 minutes.  That was a pretty good pace, considering we had to stop and take pictures, look at fish, and look at pretty scenery.

Today, I took Stella on my walk instead of Gary, cause Gary wasn't up when I went.  That was a big mistake.

My objective was to cover a lot of area fast.  Her objective was to mark her territory.  I had to compromise with her.  She also gets very thirsty on the walks.  Here she is getting a drink of water.

She does tend to slow everything down.  However, I still managed to walk for 2.3 miles in 27 minutes.  I am going to recalculate the times tomorrow, cause I think the duration is a bit short.  I get to what I think is the half way mark on the way out, then turn around and get home in 1/2 the time it took to get there.

This evening, I'm going to meet my cousin Marsha (from Okla.) for dinner at Casa Milagro.  She's been in town for her daughter's wedding (second.... so I didn't think it would be that big a deal), and she got to baby sit her two grand children while her daughter and new son-in-law are in Cabo for their honeymoon.  Get this, he is a wine distributor.  I forgot the name of the place he works, but thought it was interesting.  She's been busy taking them to school, and doing the mommy substitue thing all week.  Today, they go to their Dad's house for the weekend, so this will be the first night she's going to be free.  It will also be her last night in Dallas, then she'll go back home.  She's what I'd call a cougar.  Very cute, and maybe early 50's.  She is on her 3rd husband.  Number one hubby was her age.  Number two hubby was 1/2 her age.  Number three hubby is again much younger, but I'm not sure "how" young.  Well, as they say, what ever floats your boat.

I did go to Walmart today and bought some brown paper lunch bags and a package of yellow pop corn kernals..  Tomorrow I shall blog about my attempts to make homemade microwave pop corn from scratch.  Bet you want to mark your calendar right now so you won't miss reading that particular post while it's still fresh.  I also made it to Sam's and got a 16X20 poster of the Fab Four for our signage that we purchased in the FWGA member guest tournament.
The pic is not quite as good as the original, but ..... it's the thought that counts.  When I had it made so large, it darkened up quite a bit.  Still, it's so large it will look better than the 8X10 we've done in the past.  I didn't realize that Margie had her eyes closed until I had it enlarged.  Maybe she won't notice.  Not the most flattering of us, but we loved the background.

That's it for now. Later....
