I'm so *&%#$ Busy

This is the first free time I've had since my last blog.  I have been sooooo busy.  Here's what's been happening.

I packed my clothes and car Monday evening.  Tuesday I got up bright and early, loaded the ice chest with food, filled the car up with gas, picked Gerry up at 7am, then picked up Margie, then picked up Sheila.  We were headed for Canton, so we could meet up with the other FWGA ladies for our golf outing to Twin Lakes.  We were one of the first groups to arrive.  We loaded up, then finally everyone else arrived around 8:45.  The place was beautiful.  Unfortunately, it is too late in the season for the azalea's to be blooming, but it is still a beautiful place.  They had a contest, where everyone got three chances to hit a ball into a floating target zone.  Out of the four of us, Gerry was the only one to get it into the target in the water.  There was one other lady that also did it, but I don't know her name.  It was called a tie, but the sudden death finish to the contest had to wait until after golf.

We four actually got to play together.  We had a ball.  I honestly can't remember who won our four person mini-contest, but it wasn't me!  Here are a few pictures we took during the golfing.

Those are knock-out roses in the background.

After our golf round, all the gals met back at the club house.  Gerry and the other lady that got her golf ball into the floating target had their sudden death splash off.  It took several rounds, but finally the other lady got super lucky and plunked one in.  Gerry came in second place, which is basically 1st place loser.  Wait.... I read that somewhere on the golf course.  Whatever.... Gerry didn't win the coveted prize....whatever it was.

After we finished eating our sandwiches, we all loaded up and headed for Gerry's lake house.  They are still working on it, though it really doesn't need it.  I think they just like to spend their money on houses.  We all brought wine and snacks.  We enjoyed our time together, catching up on things we've missed in each others lives.  What a great relaxing time. Some of us weren't in that great of mood when we first got there.... bad golf does that to a person.

But, after contemplating things, everyone's mood improved.  I made us some pasta using a recipe that required me to dry my tomatoes with seasonings in the oven for 4 hours.  I did all the prep work at home so it only took about 20 minutes to make at Gerry's.  It turned out great, I thought.  They ate it, but maybe they were just hungry.  We all had a couple of glasses of wine, and around 11pm, we called it a nite.  Here are a few more pictures....

We all slept really well.  Got up at 6am, and Gerry had breakfast ready for us to assemble.  Muffins, cheeses, ham, and fruit.  I made the coffee (am I good or what?).  We then took the 40 minutes drive to The Pinnacle Golf Club.  I was sort of afraid they'd recognize me from last year.  Last year Sheila, Sue, Gerry, Joyce and I went up and played that course.  Well, Joyce and I didn't play, we just rode around.  It was really cold, so I took my cart cover and cart heater.  I won't mention any names, or place any blame, but the heater accidentally got pushed against the dash of the golf cart.  Joyce nor I noticed it until the smell got so bad our eyes started watering.  We finally figured out where the smell was coming from.  There wasn't any smoke until we got the heater "out" of the dash.  It was actually melting the heavy duty plastic dash.  It was pretty bad.  Now that I think about it, I think we forgot to mention it when the cart got turned back in.  Dang... me and my memory.

Anyway, they were really happy to have us playing their course.  As well they should..... it was in poor shape.  It needed to be mowed, and it appeared they were trying to redo the entire course.  Instead of starting one project and finishing it, it appeared they'd started multiple projects.... one on almost every third hole.  It may have been covering sand traps, or replacing grass in the fairway, but it was not pretty.  Anyway, I didn't take pictures.  After golf, we all had lunch at Chili's, then we all headed home.

I was pooped by the time we got home.  I cooked dinner, then went to bed early.  I got up early Thursday, and Gary was bitching (yes, he really does bitch, though he will never be as good at it as I am) at me because his computer's hard drive is making a grinding noise.  I got my new net book several months ago and promised him he could have my old lap top.  Well, I have never removed my files.  I promised him that I'd clear it off yesterday.  He started out being happy.

Well, since I blew my diet while at the lake (I will not discuss Tuesday, when I had 3 beers while golfing, then 3 or 8 wines in the evening, the Awesome Candy Margie brought, the nuts Sheila brought, the chips and dips that Gerry brought, and the pasta I made.... or on Wednesday the breakfast, chili, salad, chips & hot sauce, fried jalapenos and onion rings I had. BUT, I did have a diet dinner Wednesday night.), I kick started my diet again.  I made cereal for breakfast, then went for a rapid walk in the woods.  According to my fitness-diet app (love that iPhone), it gave me an extra 157 calories.  For lunch, I again did healthy, then I headed off for another dental appointment.

Got my bite adjusted, then came home and cooked dinner.  It was a REALLY healthy serving of steak and cauliflower for me, and for Gary, steak and a stuffed baked potato.  We also had a salad.  THEN, I finally started working on the laptop.  Not only did I have to transfer all my picture files from the past 3 years to my stand alone hard drive, but I had to remove all the extra software I had added.  Gary wanted it cleaned completely.  I cannot find the boot disks so...... it was a project that went on well into midnight.  I finally got it done though. An not only did I finish yesterday, but I also had 150 calories of my daily allotment that I didn't eat.

Today, I was back on my own time.  That's right, I didn't have to do anything today.  However, I am seriously trying to diet.  Now, there is one thing I want to tell you all.  Sheila is on a kick of getting healthy, but her reason is different than mine.  She is walking and watching what she eats in order to be physically healthy.  She's not really counting calories as much as she is eating the right portions of meat, fruit and veggies, etc..  (Sheila, if this isn't right, well, it is a blogging liberty that I'm taking.)  I'm doing it to lose weight.  Therefore, it is automatically easier for her to do it.  There, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

Well, to make up for all the crap I ate at the lake, I went on a walk first thing this morning.  It was rainy, but Gary actually wanted to go with me.  Of course, he doesn't walk beside me, he walks in back of me.  Don't even go there and ask why.  Who knows... maybe because he can.  Anyway, I had an umbrella thank gawd, cause it did rain lightly.  I can walk at a fairly good clip, unless I have an incline of any degree, then my left hip just doesn't want to help. I succeeded in walking 2.32 miles in 40 minutes, which burned up 278 calories.  Now, I have an abundance of calories I can blow this evening, and still be under my goal.

I know, if I eat all my calories at night, then it will be counter-productive.  Maybe tomorrow I'll do better.  I am planning on salmon, rice (Gary), cauliflower (for me instead of rice), salad, and wine for dinner.  That is, if I ever finish this blog.

Today, I also uploaded some pictures to a Sky Drive I created for the FAB FOUR gals.  Since Sue left, we're no longer the Fab Five.  Anyway, I shared the drive info with the gals, and Gerry called to tell me she had trouble with it.  I doubt that Sheila will, but she's so busy getting ready for her trip to Vegas with our friend Mel.  She probably won't have time to help Gerry.  Maybe I'll do that next week while Sheila is gone.  She and Mel are staying for only 5 days this year.  That should save them both a bunch of money.... HA HA!

I can't think of anything else exciting. This is a picture of Stella.  She has been here, laying by me all day long (cept for my walk).  She is terrified of rain, and it was thundering when she first got up today.  She has not forgotten it, and for the rest of the day, she'll continue to follow me everywhere..... .bedroom, bathroom, in the car.... any place except outside.
As you can tell from the cords on the floor, my PC was on my lap.  Later, and you all have a great day.  Finally, I am caught up on the things "I" want to do.
